Leopard print has quickly proven to be one of the most significant pattern trends of the mid-2020s. While animal print is always a thing—popping up here and there every year and booming big other years—2024 was all, and I mean ALL, about leopard.
While other animal prints like snakeskin and zebra came to give leopard a run for its money this year, leopard print has proven its staying power in 2025 as well, showing no signs of slowing down, and we are so here for it.
From Trend to Timeless: Leopard Is Becoming a Wardrobe Staple
As more maximalist fashion and loud luxury come back into our collective rotations, leopard remains a statement that can easily be worked into your wardrobe. It has the rare ability to act as both a neutral (in the sense that it goes well with everything) and a bold pop.
While leopard print as a trend is nothing new—it has ebbed and flowed in the fashion world for decades (Christian Dior famously loved leopard print, using it from his very first show on)—the last major surge was in the late 2010s, with spotted bags, shoes, accessories, and clothing popping up everywhere from mass market to luxury brands.
As the trend cycle continues to rev up and leopard print remains a must-have, the undeniably fun pattern has the ability to transcend the trend phase and become a full-on wardrobe staple.
Personally, I love leopard print—recently adding a vintage pony-hair leopard coat to my packed jacket rotation (I already own two other leopard print coats!) and a pair of leopard boots from Miista. Still, few luxury brands are nailing leopard print in the way that Saint Laurent is.
Saint Laurent Is Leading the Leopard Revival
Its leopard-print pony-hair iterations of fan favorites like Saint Laurent’s Le 5 à 7 Supple and the Bea Bag have sold out time and again. Now, a sleek new leopard lady joins the lineup alongside a range of other lust-worthy leopard pieces.
If you’re a Saint Laurent stan like me, then you know that the distinct YSL Cassandre logo is integral to the House and its history. The Cassandre Envelope Pouch on Chain is an ode to that history—combining the classic gold YSL logo with edgy leopard print and a chic gold chain strap. It’s the perfect size and shape for nights out, adding a more evening-focused option to Saint Laurent’s leopard line-up.
I’d easily pair this bag with so much of my current wardrobe. Still, I also find myself gravitating toward Saint Laurent’s other leopard pieces, like the (entirely out of my budget) leopard-print raincoat or the Le Loafer in leopard (the MOST comfortable loafers ever).
