First Comes Bags, Then Comes Baby: Baby Girl PurseBlog is On the Way!!

YES, you read that correctly! After 11 years of PurseBlog, eight years of marriage, multiple moves, major personal and professional milestones, countless bags purchased and even more bags discussed, Vlad and I are so happy to announce that we will be welcoming a baby girl come late November!

I’ve wanted to be a mom since I was young, and right when Vlad and I got married, I was ready to have kids at that moment. But soon after we were married, we decided to move to NYC, and with my personality and the craze of the city, I knew I needed to be somewhere a little more zen to begin motherhood. (Plus, I’m lucky to have the option to work from anywhere, so I wanted to wait for the right moment.) This past fall, I was about to share a very different personal post with you about the journey of trying to get pregnant, which wasn’t the easiest for us. But, just as I started to write that post, I discovered I was pregnant! I’ve always been very open with our readers and plan on sharing more on that journey soon, because I do believe we can help one another through speaking openly. First, though, I wanted to start with the big reveal!

I can’t even put into words how excited I am to be the mom of this little girl growing inside of me! I’ve experienced all-day morning sickness for the first trimester and have been feeling her movements and little kicks the past few weeks, and I looked at the calendar and realized I had just passed the 22-week mark. I always assumed Vlad would want a son, but I can tell you he has been so thrilled at the fact that we’re having a daughter; watching him gush over me and my growing belly is the sweetest.

Baby Girl (2)

Also, I have to share the story of this little bag, because it’s absolutely hilarious and absurd.

When Vlad and I were talking marriage and already running PurseBlog, I knew I wanted a family and hoped for a little girl to share my bags with. I had spotted a member on PurseForum who had a photo of her daughter with a Louis Vuitton Mini Sac HL Bag, and I knew I wanted one for my future daughter.

Fast forward a few years, and I heard rumors that this bag was going to be discontinued. We were in a Louis Vuitton boutique at the time, and the store had one of the last ones in stock for the company. I wasn’t pregnant and wasn’t trying to be pregnant, but I had to have this bag.

Vlad thought I was insane, and to be honest, I really kind of was. I’ve had this bag in its box in my closet for years, and it just so happens our first child is a little girl–an appropriately PurseBlog ending for this bag, and beginning for us.

I’m looking forward to sharing more with you all throughout this next phase of our lives, and I’m sure it will change my handbag purchases as well what I carry inside my bags and beyond. Here’s to hoping she loves handbags–my collection would be great for playing dress-up. Either way, I’m so happy to know that our lives are going to be much more exhausting and much different, with one more little person come November!

Congratulations and best of luck with new beginnings! Would love to hear your reviews on luxury mommy bags and diaper bags soon?

Thank you!! And yep, planning on getting my hands on bags that are diaper bags and others that would work as a good diaper bag to review! Lots of new products to think about and share with you all!

Congrats on the addition to your family!! I think the “men only want boys” sentiment is really over. I’m expecting our daughter in four weeks and my husband wanted a daughter so badly (I wanted a boy) so when we found out she was, in fact, a she, he was over the moon excited! I think guys like the idea of spoiling daughters!

Totally agree! I think it’s just what I had heard from some other guys and then of course it’s just a stereotype. Vlad really wanted a girl and I really thought she was a boy! So when they called with the info on her being a girl (I had a blood test done that checked gender), I was almost shocked!

Hope you’re feeling well and wishing you luck on delivery and welcoming your little one into the world!

Thank you Ashley!! We were going to share a video and that’s part of the reason this announcement was a bit delayed! Didn’t have time for it with everything happening on the forum, etc! But really glad to have photos to share 🙂

So very happy for both of you. And thank you for sharing the news with us. Love the story of the teensy little handbag! Have you picked a name yet, or don’t you do that in your family/culture until after the baby is born?

So happy to share with you all – and I am planning on sharing a bit more on it soon (and of course along the way)!

We have a few names we like but we’ve decided we won’t name her until we meet her. I want to be sure the name suits her well, but we have a few picked out as options!

Wow Meg! The tiny bag story is hilariously absurd and yet all of us in the PB community can sympathize. Congrats to you and Vlad, and we wish you a healthy rest of your pregnancy 🙂

I had to share that part of the story because I feel like if anyone is to understand it and appreciate it, it’s you all!! It was absurd and I remember even telling the sale’s associate I wanted it for my daughter. She asked how old she was and I was like ohhhh…. and then she asked if I was pregnant and I said no. She probably thought I was nuts!

Omg! I’m so excited for you & Vlad. (A co-worker just asked why I had this crazy smile on my face… I said, “Meg’s having a baby girl.” She probably thinks you’re related to me. Lol!! ) Congratulations!! Very happy for you.

I’m so happy for you and Vlad!!!! What happy news, and thank you for sharing the ups and downs with us! I’m the mother of two girls, and I’m clearly a handbag fanatic, so it’s nice to know the bags I buy may one day be carried by my girls (in fact, now that they’re in their early 20s, they’ve started saying “dibs” on the ones they like!!). So looking forward to following the rest of your journey towards parenthood!

Ahhh yes I imagine calling dibs on bags will happen if I have more than 1 girl!! I’ve always been someone who is open and enjoys sharing, mostly because it helps others but also helps me too!

Congratulations! As someone who struggled for four years and through several failed rounds of fertility treatments before conceiving through IVF with PGD, I look forward to reading more about your journey. It will be interesting to see how your bag choices change, too. Oddly, since having my son I’ve been carrying much smaller handbags now because I stuff all my spillover items into my super stylish diaper bag!

I’m so glad IVF was able to work out for you! I really am very lucky that the dr’s were able to figure out what was going on with me quickly and make a plan. Our journey was much shorter than many, longer than many, but I know so many struggle and I’m one who believes sharing can help!

Which diaper bag do you have?!

There are lots of great inserts out there, so almost any roomy tote can be converted and do double-duty as a diaper bag. I tend to use my LV Neverfull or my trusty Goyard Marquises.

YAYAYAYAYYAYA! I am ALSO due with a baby girl (#2) in late November! I can’t wait to hear about your journey – especially as it relates to your love of handbags. I know not all of your readers will want to hear about how your bag choices evolve once you’re also toting a diaper changer, stroller and the billions of other baby accessories, but this reader cannot wait!

Oh and I must say – your DAUGHTER IS THE LUCKIEST GIRL ON THE PLANET. Can I be her when I grow up?

Oh ya, so many changes will happen when it comes to my bag! I already am pretty planned out with what I carry in my bag, so I’m sure it’s going to be that to the next level!

Congrats on your baby girl too! How are you feeling?!
