For the past week, our house has been filled with excitement about the Olympics. Each evening, both of our kids ask for us to put on Olympic trials, and every morning, our son comes straight into our room and asks to watch “the fastest swimmers!” from the night before.
As many of you may know, Vlad and I met at The Ohio State University on swimming scholarships. My shoulder injury from swimming led us to start this website with my newfound free time and the need to start a job after my swimming career ended. The sport of swimming is still a major part of our lives, and our excitement for the big meets never wavers, and we’ve passed it on to our kids.

Katie Ledeckey is one of the athletes on Ralph Lauren’s site, who, if you don’t follow swimming, is an absolute phenom in everything from mid-distance to long-distance freestyle. She stands next to her male swimming counterpart who is also impressive in distance freestyle, Bobby Finke.
All of the items Ralph Lauren is making for Team USA will also be made in the USA. The Polo shirts are crafted from 100% recycled cotton. The opening ceremony look includes a navy blazer, striped shirt, and jeans, which reflect the sporty and sophisticated House codes.
Even if this were not an Olympic year, a cozy sweatshirt with a vintage vibe is a quintessentially American summer item, so all of these bring me the feeling of small-town nostalgia from my childhood.

It was my dream growing up to make the Olympic team, and though I fell short and qualified for trials but never made the team, I still feel a strong pull to the sport and all that goes along with it! That’s really quite an accomplishment! What was your specific swimming event?
Vlad and I were both middle-distance freestylers. The 200 was my best event and I would do the 100 free and 400 free as well, and Vlad was best at the 200 and 400 free!
