Catapulted by the quiet luxury movement, The Row Margaux rose to widespread popularity in 2023 and peaked in 2024. Its classic shape and effortless slouch quickly became one of the most wanted shapes, with many dubbing the bag the next Birkin.
A luxury staple and favorite of style stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jennifer Garner, and more, The Margaux became one of the hardest bags to snag in 2024, selling out almost everywhere and racking up quite a premium on the resale market.
The spacious shopper spawned dupes galore and put the bowler-style carryall back on the map. The Row Margaux, which has been around for years, was having a major moment. Now, rumor has it that its moment is coming to a halting stop.

The Row Margaux On the Outs? Say it Ain’t So!
Recently, rumors have begun swirling on social media that The Row has discontinued production of its ever-popular Margaux bag. Though nothing has been officially confirmed with the brand, The Row has always been a quieter label, and the move is actually not at all surprising, given the bag’s intense fanfare.
The Row never sought to be as ubiquitous as Louis Vuitton or the like. While the strategy of discontinuing something while it’s so incredibly hot seems unfathomable, it makes a lot of sense for a brand like The Row, whose customers expect a certain air of exclusivity.
If you’re still looking to add a Margaux bag to your collection, now would be the time to do it. As inventory levels continue to decline and more consumers default to the resale market, prices are sure to increase further on the secondary market.
Retire it, drive the preloved value up more, bring it back a few later at an elevated price and call it re-edition.
I saw a suede chocolate Margaux and thought it looked terrific. The Margaux shown in this column’s top photo, however, looks awful. As for the bag being discontinued, well, there’s always a new bag coming around the corner …
speaking from experience those rain spots on that saddle leather will not come out. Not even with saddle soap and leather conditioner. On the other hand it will make the bag look well loved and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The rain spots will absolutely dry without a problem.
I think they’re just water stains which should dry up just fine. Looks snowy/wet outside in that photo.
I disagree. The bag used in the main photo is perfect. It shows it has been utilized and not something to be taken care of and babied. When I see a woman carrying a well loved designer bag with scratches and worn in wear and tear it screams class to me. However, when I see a woman carrying a pristine, babied bag carefully placing it on chairs or on the table because they do not want to ruin it, all I think is that they spent their entire paycheck (and then some) and they do not want to make what they paid go to waste.
This comment appears to be a very youthful view of what “screams class”.
I baby mine mainly because I get bored of them quickly and still want to get a good price on them on the second hand market. Scratches and stains will minus hundreds of euros which I happen to care about.
In my humble opinion a big should never be put on the floor that’s disgusting, why not put in a chair or on the table regardless how much money you spend on it.
I came here to say this and then I saw your post🥰I don’t care if I spent $1 or $1,000,000 on a bag, it shall not touch the floor. Disgusting.
In Colombia it’s bad luck to our your bag on the floor. Regardless of the price.
it sounds like the person who spent their entire paycheck is being looking down upon b/c they bought something they are “not supposed to” be able to afford – soo that’s not classy b/c they want to treat something well?
while i agree that bags are meant to be used, your reply is quite snobby
Womp womp.
👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you!! Am I “classy” if I treat my bag like I don’t care about what I spent on it? Scuff it up and set it on the floor? Make it make sense!!
There is a vast middle ground between “babying” a bag and treating it like junk. No need to claim there are only two extreme options.
100%!
I just do not see the appeal of this bag… the leather looks nice but to me the design is a total rip off of the Hermes Bolide and even the Vuitton Alma which are true classics… in my view the Margaux is all hype… overpriced and plain… the rumour that it is being discontinued could be a cynical attempt to drive the price up and make it seem oh so desirable…
I never understood why someone would carry this capacious bag for any reason other than travel – it lacks style – the Coach version is cooler
some people work, you know
some people also carry a micro bag that only can be filled with hope and dreams and nothing else , LOL. capacious bags much useful.
Omg a person who loves the monstas like I do and also loves handbags lolololol. But you are absolutely right in your response
Hopes and dreams😂😂😂Thanks for making me laugh.
This made me chuckle. Very clever. “Hopes and Dreams”
Some people have to carry a lot of things on a daily basis. 🤷🏻♂️
Their twin power hasn’t failed them yet!
I wish it can be discontinued so I’m not carrying an “it” bag. I have the 10 and it has really changed my aesthetic as far as minimal branding and hardware and really shaped my bag choices from other designers for the good.
I have an eye for the 12 in the smooth and like the 10, would prefer to buy it from the website at a somewhat decent price instead of the price gouging in the secondary market like at Fashionphile, the worst.
I have the 12 which is a perfect day bag for me. I’m considering the 15 for work but waiting for the color to be available. I have a small bag collection and only purchase bags that meet my needs.
I wouldn’t trust anything that came out of weworewhat’s mouth.. plus idk why new colors (Timouse grey) have been released on their website if they plan on discontinuing it.
haha exactly re WWW!
The only thing I don’t like about the bag is the WHITE cloth interior. I know it makesit lighter but should be leather lined at this price
