The New Marc Jacobs Dual Bag Deserves a Second Look

Minimalism—the Marc way...

Known for his cheeky, overt branding on silhouettes like The Sack Back and The Tote Bag, this season, Marc Jacobs introduces the Dual Bag, adding a more minimalistic silhouette to its line-up of bags. Quiet luxury the Marc Jacobs way, if you will.

Offering a hint of the old Marc Jacobs, the bag first made its debut on the fall runway and immediately felt worthy of a second look. Showcased in slouchy oversized silhouettes with quilting and bold colors, it captured the attention of fans, with commenters rushing to ask, “Omg…where can I get it?”

While the runway iterations have yet to drop, smooth leather versions and a fun zebra print have debuted, and they’re already making waves on TikTok, and we can see why.

A Closer Look

Launching in two sizes—mini and large, the Dual Bag combines the relaxed, downtown aesthetic that Marc Jacobs is known for with form and function. More simply put, the Dual is stylish but functional and completely fuss-free, all at a price point that won’t break the bank— the mini retails for $350 and the large $495.

It’s crafted from smooth leather and defined by a semi-structured shape with a flap closure. Featuring the classic Marc Jacobs J turn lock, The Dual offers just a hint of branding, flying more under the radar than the brand’s other bags.

Double leather handles intertwine within a larger version of the brand’s classic hardware, acting as a unique statement. Those of us who grew up with old Marc Jacobs will rejoice; The Dual feels very reminiscent of the Marc Jacobs of yesteryear.

This debut is incredibly enticing and exciting for new and old fans alike, as the brand has seen many iterations of change over the last decade. The Dual Bag feels like the perfect juxtaposition between the Marc Jacobs of today and the Marc Jacobs of the early-aughts.

The bar is so low when it comes to Marc Jacobs bags these days, that this is easily the nicest thing I have seen from his brand in years.
