Louis Vuitton is Selling a $53,000 Tea Set

Fancy some afternoon tea?

Afternoon Tea with LV

Do you ever wonder what you’d buy if you had all the money in the world? Maybe a Celine Pilates reformer or a Hermès Rolls Royce? The truth is that luxury brands could make almost anything, and the one percent would buy it.

I would be lying if I said I never dreamed about a life of extravagance, but one thing I can promise you I’ve never dreamed about buying was a Louis Vuitton tea set…until now. I thought I’d seen almost everything, but nothing prepared me for what I thought was a casual scroll through Louis Vuitton’s new arrivals.

Right in front of my very eyes was something I never thought I’d see. I even had to look twice to ensure I read the number correctly.

High Tea in High Style

As part of its Summer Holidays Collection, Louis Vuitton celebrates the season with a selection of refreshed leather goods and unique pieces designed to foster connections and make memories. And make memories you will with Louis Vuitton’s $53,000 Boîte Afternoon Tea set.

Inspired by picnic trunks found in the Maison’s archives, the set includes service for four guests to share a “gourmet moment wherever they travel.” The LV Monogram trunk is fitted with three drawers, a removable wooden tray with leather handles, a zippy pouch to hold cutlery, and detachable compartments that store the set’s tableware.

Tableware includes a glass-covered cake dish, mugs, saucers, plates, and utensils. They’ve really thought of everything here, except for the fact that anyone with a spare $50K to spend on a tea set is probably not the demographic who would actually sit on picnic blankets and have a tea party in the grass.

But then again, maybe actually using it is not the point so much as is simply being able to own it.

I was thinking, maybe not everything needs to be an article? Some of these articles remind me of being in school and needing to meet a page or word count minimum, and I’m sure it’s not fun for the writers to have to come up with full articles multiple times a week. Something like this could just be a weekly feature like “Ridiculous Item of the Week” and let people share their thoughts in the comments.

Purseblog has to produce content so that people visit the site often and click on the articles. More publications = more visitors = more advertising dollars. It’s a business.

Anna

Yes I know. I’m saying that there could be alternative content besides forced articles. People would still be able to engage and leave comments, and it would be far more interesting than just walls of text.

Bolivar

I don’t disagree with you!

Hervé

It’s a beautiful object that reflects the craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton.

Paris

Ironically, there are homes that can be purchased, with acreage, for the price of this tea set. One is listed in Watts, Ok. Or, one can buy a nice SUV for this price. So many options other than such ridiculously opulent extravaganzas, but people will buy what they like, no matter the price.

Fancyfree

That’s what we ordinary, lower income folks think about the prices oh so many tPf’ers pay for each of their many luxery bags 😉

Sadly, this is America in a nutshell: growing inequality.

AdGuru

For this demographic, 53K is equivalent to someone else (e.g., me) spending $530. It’s not really an either/or argument because the purchaser probably isn’t thinking about alternative usage.

Would I buy it if I were a billionaire? Maybe. I could picnic on one of my yachts.

Paris

Oh, I recognize that some ppl can afford it, but trying to put things in some type of perspective.

Also, as you may know, billionaires Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anand Ambani, married recently. He spent $300 million celebrating the opulent engagement, with high end schmoozers for 4 months, prior to the lavish 4 day marriage. In my head, I can’t comprehend this type of luxury. He could have also gifted every guest, this tea set, without a second thought.

CatJ

It’s the inequality combined with the glorification and public showcasing of wealth, like the Ambani wedding. When 60% of Indias population lives on less than $3 a day, broadcasting your wealth is gross. The media loves to glorify wealth, so you have blog posts like this with the $53,000 in the title.

If only it came on wheels… then maybe. 🤔

Silly me…I saw the first pic and thought it comes with a matching mini capucines. 53k

Sandy

Well, it does include a cake dish and plates! Hahahah!

SonShownu

do people actually gonna buy and use it?

Lee

Proudly made by Asian immigrants for low cost and sells “ High Price” 😂 LVMH has lost billions profits so now Elon is a top and Bezos is a second
Obviously Bernard needs back up lol

The hard-sided luggage is made in Louis Vuitton’s historic manufacture in Asnières. You can tour it during select dates during the year if you happen to visit Paris. I highly encourage you to do so. You will realize that everything in your post above is incorrect.

One word, INSANE!
