Known first for its classic canvas in Monogram and Damier, many of Louis Vuitton’s most beloved bags are anything but quiet. It’s the material that started it all for the Maison, dating back to the 19th century. Louis Vuitton Monogram is one of the most recognizable motifs in all of luxury fashion.
But as the luxury fashion landscape has changed, Louis Vuitton has also evolved, navigating the waters easily and expanding its offerings, prioritizing new and unique leather bags with an elevated appeal. Today, the Low Key collection launches, joining the Maison’s lineup of leather bags just in time for spring and summer.
Low Key, High Style
Dropping with two new shapes, the Low Key Collection is Louis Vuitton’s take on fashion’s current obsession with understated luxury. Said to embody the quiet luxury trend, the focus is on sleek designs and expert craftsmanship rather than the fun details and bold colors we’ve grown to expect from the Maison for the warm weather months.
Standing out thanks to their minimalist, streamlined silhouettes, the collection launches with two styles—a hobo and a shoulder bag. Both feature timeless details that tie back to Louis Vuitton’s DNA, like a signature gold padlock, an ode to the Maison’s roots in travel and its history as a trunk maker.
In the 1880s, it was more than a stylistic detail; the locks were fully functional and meant to secure hand luggage and leather goods. Both bags arrive in neutral colors and are constructed of soft-grain leather meant to feel supple but withstand daily use.

The big padlock should be left where it belongs……on a door or a locker.
lol!!!
I think the lock is what makes the purse stand out from being a basic black purse! It adds distinction 🙂
Do you think that they made the lock lighter than a regular padlock?
Just like Chloe’s Paddington…it’s giving heavy 🙁
Interesting. Not what I expected or hoped for.
I agree. It will make this bag too heavy. If you can’t remove that would be an issue for me. Women need to design the bags!
I thought it was removable but apparently it’s integrated into the bag’s design. Not so low key then. lol
Coach has made beautiful leather hobo bags without big locks for a price point that is one zero less than these LV bags.
That’s why they’re one zero less, because they’re Coach. It speaks for itself. That’s like comparing caviar to canned oysters.
Coach is NOT LV!
LOL at all.
So true but Coach isn’t a luxury brand. People shopping for Louis Vuitton aren’t the same people sporting Coach. It’s a fault comparison.
Sometimes they are one in the same.
Your phrasing made me laugh out loud! Love Coach!
Yes coach got it going on. I love all the different decorations that coach has to offer. It gives you more for your money without seeing the same material that look-alike I love Louis Vuitton, but the bags are overrated overpriced and they’re not catching my eyes. Anymore it’s sad. Once in a while, give us a sale a good banging sale Sometimes
Lv’s don’t go on sale. Ever. The lower price point you’ll ever get on LV is through a second hand site/store. Brand new, nope. Lv never marks they’re bags down. At the end of the year whatever bags are unsold, they literally burn them.
Well that’s stupid.
The giant padlock, especially on the larger hobo bag, feels like it’s just been slapped on randomly – it’s positioned in such a weird place? Doesn’t look integrated into the bag’s actual design, I don’t mind larger embellishments or design codes but they need to feel intentional.
It’s perfectly placed! It’s used to secure the length of the strap that you choose to use…
Totally agree. I like the bags themselves well enough, but those nonfunctional locks look ridiculous with such random placements.
It’s functional
I’m sorry — how is a gigantic padlock “low key”?!
Because it’s not a “giant lock”. The lock is an inch tall lol it’s not like it’s a 7-in tall lock lol.
I like the bags, but the giant padlocks? Not so ,much.
While I do like a leather bag $3,600 is not “reasonable” to me and I do not need a bag that can hold a small child.
I had my SA send me a picture in real time. The bag won’t stand up on its own..it sorta pools down which is why I hated the Carmel bag in Mahina. And I agree, $3600 is far from “reasonable” IMO.
Louis Vuitton has always had bags made of beautiful leathers, including the famous Nomade collection. It’s just not what most people know about the brand—but the house has a rich history of crafting “low key” bags in delicious leathers.
If Coach and Chloe 2001 had a baby this is what it would look like
I still get twinges in my lower back thinking about my Chloe Paddington back in the day.
yeah it was a nightmare.
Just saw your comment! Said the exact same. I concur.
I got this bag today, used a credit from a faulty Neverfull in leather. Wouldn’t pay full price but the credit made it worthwhile. Leather is super luxe and the padlock is actually a feature that allows you to extend the strap and make it crossbody. Quality is superb and despite the large lock it is quite low key. I got the black and the gold trims really stand out. I liked this bag (was debating the large loop) because it will be a good work and travel bag without tie OTT branding.
My friend just bought this bag today and the lock is lowkey fabulous. Another hit. Lock weighs nothing.
Does the padlock make the bag heavy? Everyone is presuming this, but is the lock hollow or solid, which would make all of the difference. Thx!
It feels more on the “hollow side” as the leather belt actually runs through it. The bag is heavier than cavas as the leather feels like a heavier grain. It seems closer to the capucines leather than the leather in the lock and walk for example.
These are very nice. I like that LV continues to keep their prices on the “reasonable” side and not alienate their core customers with outrageous price increases.
The problem I see with a reasonable price is oversaturation. So many Louis vuitton bags, especially with teenagers. That does not appeal to me.
I’m surprised you think that, their prices have risen, at least in Australia, three times a year by up to 20%. The Neverfull I purchased in 2019 for $1200 is now $3000 5 years later. Their leather bags are now around 10K for many of their styles. Their prices are now similar to Chanel early last year and in some cases on par. I was interested in the plain leather shopping tote that looks like a smaller version of their in store carry bags and it was 8K.
I have an epi leather neverfull that has no big logos, that’s low key. This big gold padlock is not low key. Especially on a soft leather bag, it’s so out of place. Bottega does low key the best.
I just bought the bag yesterday and it is not heavy. It is a beautiful bag!
I just got mine in the PM size today and it is divine! Not at all heavy.
Can I ask did you buy the bag in the Cognac brown? If so is the colour exactly as it is seen in the picture?
Agree the lock brings unnecessary weight, plus I carry items that are important to me, unsecure top closures like these are a deal breaker.
These particular bags do not appeal to me but I agree that LV can do some fine low-key bags in high quality leathers. My next LV purchase will probably be this one, which falls into the low-key luxury category: https://eu.louisvuitton.com/eng-e1/products/lock-it-mm-high-end-leathers-nvprod4670033v/M22925
At 4500, it’s not moderately priced but it is a bag I will still be using a decade from now.
Oh I like that bag! Very nice choice.
I tried this on yesterday and it is beautiful!
I tried it on and the lock is actually a means to adjust the strap easily. it’s really beautiful in person. if you like luxurious drapey leather it’s awesome. you would have to avoid really heavy contents to keep it from stretching though. I’m considering it because I love a slouchy bag…
love Louis but low key……… the only low key bags they make are their classics in natural leather/nomade leather/exotic leathers.
Low key shoulder bag=ysl le 5 a 7…
ysl did it better
LOL YSL is all about those big shiny logos. No thanks.
That is anything but low key lol
So the lock has no key?
Purely stylistic not functional?
It’s NO key; not low key.
No on the padlock and the other is interesting but WAY too big. JMO
All I can say is NO. I would not be caught dead with any LV bag, ever, no matter how quiet it claims to be.
Because youre so special and a snob. The richest most lucrative Luxury company in the world is LV.
If you would not be caught dead with any LV bag why not just keep scrolling to your preferred brand?
And the bucket bags are somewhat derivative of the Loro Piana Bale bag.
it looks a bit like hermes style
It looks like a bigger Picotin
I like LV’s bags but these are a ‘no’ for me.
Come on Louis y’all can do better the big lock thing is already over …. So many others before you over did it ….. Why be a follower when you’ve always been a leader
I just purchased the Low Key hobo in Cognac. It is gorgeous! Very well made. The leather is thick and scrumptious. But, the soft and thick suede lining is what gives this bag its real luxurious feel. Very, very nice! A real treat to reach in your bag. The lock, in my opinion, is genius. It is both functional (what a great way to adjust the shoulder strap length) and beautiful. I find it to be just enough “bling” to still keep this bag “low key” but at the same time to provide an interesting element. Bottom feet. And, that sweet hobo drape (helped by the soft and thick suede interior). This bag drapes and molds to your body like a warm cozy blanket on a cool Autumn day. Love it!
Coach was a excellent quality bag yrs ago. Their stuff now is lower grade. I never buy it anymore and it doesn’t compare to LV, at all.
I love it
Not too heavy but the lock’s weight may prevent the low key mm bag from sliding off the shoulder.
Lower the cost
I own it i love it, the lock does not make it too heavy. Best louis ive had in a while.
