Earlier this week, Louis Vuitton presented its Spring 2023 collection, and it was a collection of epic proportions — literally. Nicolas Ghesquiere continues to explore the rich history and brand DNA of Louis Vuitton, and this season, he pays homage to its storied background in a larger-than-life way.
Show notes for the collection also explore femininity, which is emphasized and magnified through grand proportions. With the collection’s ready-to-wear, these themes are expressed through exaggerated zipper pulls and grandiose belt buckles showcased on dresses and tops.
This so-called “stylistic exercise” re-evaluates the traditional way in which we look at clothes, forcing the wearer (and the viewer) to look twice. As for the bags, they too, zoom in on the details, highlighting small but integral parts of House DNA. Locks, labels, monograms, and more are blown up, creating carryalls that tell a story (and make a statement).

House Emblems, Magnified

Interesting novelty. Fun to look at. Not so much fun to carry — very impractical…. and like the bags, the price will be just as disproportionately HUGE !!
Honestly, kinda brilliant. The key pouch is insane. The luggage tag, etc… Like…sincerely amazed that this hasn’t been done before. If I legit had the money to burn, I’d buy a piece for home decor.
Omg! I too have thought if I had the funds I’d buy an LV for home decor! Frame it with lights behind the beautiful double sided glass and it would be my centerpiece. Lol. Dreaming is deliciously fun!
Some of these are fun and really cute.
I’m scared even thinking about how much these would cost.
This was—by far—my favorite NG runway show. So creative and fun!!! The bags are all stunning. The giant pochette clés is hilarious but also cool AF. And can we talk about the Asnières house? A freaking masterpiece.
Couldn’t agree more. I feel really invigorated by this gorgeous display of creativity and pure artistic vision.
These bags crack me up…that gigantic key pouch
Ironically I just purchased a Sac Polochon 70 from 1996. I was worried it would be too big. I guess I’m ahead of the curve 🤣
I was expecting to read a bunch of hate comments but I guess not! I frikkin love these pieces! Gimme gimme!!! 😛
I love a good frame bag! There’s something about the ladylike nature of it, but throw in some nice hardware and details to edge it out. The woven one is really cool. I also love all of the exaggerations. It would be fun to tote around a giant luggage tag or cles for a day.
The woven frame bag is very reminiscent of the Bottega New York bag they showed the year they renovated their New York City store.
the first black bag in the cover looks really comfy for a good nap, which is good, love it. also the blue trunk looks like a school lunch box, cute
Arrggg, just say NO! Fugly, out of proportion and underlying styles look recycled. Only one worth its pic is the last one. Others, JAMAIS.
Yep I agree. The last bag is much more functional and kinda timeless design( wonder if the top handle will be movable). Bit reminds me of one of MJ’s collection when he was LV’s artistic director.
Overall very unique and fun design piece to get peoples attention but not sure if it’s good to use so much materials for giant’s size bags…..I bet the price will be insane.
They’ve got to be prototypes just for the fashion show. Otherwise, very few are going to sell and LV is going to have to do some aggressive celebrity/influencer gifting in order to drum up sales.
You’re kidding, right? Most of these pieces will be selling like hot cakes.
If I was loaded you best believe i’d be buying a bunch of these cool and crazy pieces.
Same. lol
Oh wow these are a lot of fun! I love it when a designer/house mixes beauty with a sense of humor—bags were meant to be enjoyed!
I love it all. I have no idea why but it makes me smile from ear to ear. The giant Cles and tags are crazy and cool. Refreshing stuff. Someone at LV may have lost their lolly, thank goodness!
That woven frame bag is my jam. I can’t wait to carry one.
This looks like it’s a cartoon 😋😋😋😋
Not liking the supersized tags lol Everything else is ok
I usually like LV but these are amazing. The only thing bad about this collection is that I only have space for one more handbag!! So I doubly love the idea below of using them as decor. That way I can look at it all the time AND get some extra handbag storage. So unbelievably cute.
Love the large totes for some reason. Not crazy about the house tote though. Some neat design in there. I can only dream of ever owning one of those.
Innovative, functional and beautiful to look at. This is why I love LV more than it’s contemporaries.
