Back in the 1970s and ’80s, Ibiza was known as an international hotspot for the hippies of the world. An epicenter of music, fashion, partying, and fun, Ibiza was also home to a little shop called Paula’s Boutique. Known to the most fashionable party-goers the island would see, Paula’s was the place to shop for bohemian beachwear like floral, flowy dresses meant to take you straight from the beach to the beach club, where the party would last until the early hours of the morning. While Paula’s was known for its wares and knack for transforming even the most buttoned-up beachgoer into a free spirit, it was also a destination for the island’s hottest events.

While Paula’s shut its doors after nearly 20 years in business, its folklore would remain, and those whispers and stories intrigued Loewe’s creative director Jonathon Anderson. Anderson spent his youth vacationing in Ibiza, and the memories he created led to the unique partnership between Loewe and Paula’s Ibiza. The dynamic duo released its first co-branded Loewe Paula’s Ibiza collection in the summer of 2017, and the partnership has continued to blossom in the years since. Today, the latest pieces from Loewe Paula’s Ibiza for summer 2023 are here, and we’ve got a first look.

A Liberated Summer Spirit

Defined by the free-spirited Ibiza mindset and rooted in music and culture, the newest pieces from Jonathan Anderson embody a laid-back lifestyle. The summer 2023 Paula’s Ibiza Collection also celebrates the original Paula’s Boutique, building on the sentiment that it was far more than just a spot to buy island clothes, but a destination for creatives worldwide to meet. Consisting of unique pieces that ooze Island Life, that beachy lifestyle reminds the inspiration behind Loewe Paula’s Ibiza.

This installment from the partnership takes it one step further. While pieces do feel inherently like resort wear, they are also meant to offer an escapist feel for those summering in the city. Easy pieces with enhanced versatility, this collection features the Loewe staples we’ve come to expect, like weaving, braiding, and texture, showcasing the brand’s storied commitment to craft.

The collection features an array of Loewe’s most-loved bags, including Raffia and Iraca Palm totes. This collection also sees the launch of a new silhouette, the Loewe Font Tote, which comes in 3 different sizes and various colorways. Other fan favorites appear, too, like the Bracelet bag, which is reinvented in crochet. This collection sees an array of playful charms to add a fun personal touch to the bags. Discover the campaign below in images shot by friend of the House, Gray Sorrenti; said to be a celebration of island life with the creative community.

The bags are nice but what are these poses?

I was just thinking that. Why are bags being associated with crotches. Then i realized that crotchet is similar to crotch and it instantly did not make sense again.

Who thought that crotch shots were the way to sell bags to women? I don’t even know if I like the bags because my eyes just refuse to look.

I ordered a Loewe basket bag but after seeing these pictures I think I‘ll return it. The pictures are repulsive, the models look cheap and dirty, the entire atmosphere they created here is terrible. It has nothing to do with strong modern women (if they wanted to transport that even), but it’s just sad, cheap and slutty.

I respect all opinions but I think it’s a retrograde comment. In Europe, this would only occur to a person 85 years of age or older. I think that mixing quality of products with advertising campaigns that do not seem so serious to me and if it had not been said, I would not have noticed. It’s a mistake. Despite the photos and the campaign, bags and garments are ideal for a summer day.

That’s great if they only want to sell bags to young Europeans. As an American, I find the photos tacky. Judging by the other comments, I am clearly not alone in this.

The photos of crotches are just plain demeaning to women. Observe that the photos featuring men are focused on faces, not their crotches. Loewe makes extraordinarily beautiful products, but they need to pull this ad campaign.

used to be a beautiful brand. Now it’s covered in ugly logos.

This right here. I loved it because it didn’t scream its name. Now, I hesitate to buy the Loewe styles with name branding on the straps and bags. The logo is fine. It’s beautiful and understated. Now they’ve turned the bags into walking billboards and charge us more for them. Ugh.

If you want with the leather bags you can have the model with the discreet logo and the leather strap. And in the raffia bags, there are several models without a logo. With regard to prices, they have risen but like all brands.

I just saw the promotional video of Paula’s Ibiza and it’s sensual but anyone who sees something pornographic must be sick.
