Introduced in 2014, the Loewe Puzzle Bag was Creative Director Jonathon Anderson’s first bag for the Spanish Design House. Though it was originally designed as a Men’s Duffle, the now-iconic Puzzle bag transcends genders and can be worn by all.
Additionally, it can be categorized into many different styles—it’s classic yet modern, with its origami-like shape and versatile ways of carrying. It can be dressed up or down—worn with jeans and a simple tank or your best look for dining out; the Puzzle bag can really do it all.
The Puzzle Bag is one of those rare bags that remains a coveted item season after season in its original form. Still, its unique yet distinctive lines are easily reinvented. The line has been expanded upon, offering new shapes, sizes, and colors, and it is arguably one of the most versatile bags of modern handbag history.
From the original shape to belt bags and shoulder hobos, the Puzzle has become a timeless classic that is most definitely here to stay. This season, Loewe adds a new silhouette to the Puzzle line-up, which will surely wow.

Pre-Collection’s Puzzle
Arriving as part of the Fall/Winter 2023 Pre-Collection, Loewe introduces the Puzzle Fold Tote, which is inspired by the now instantly recognizable geometric lines of the original Puzzle. Additional inspiration comes from an archival design known as the Origami bag, and the Puzzle Fold Tote merges each bag’s unique characteristics, creating an extremely versatile tote that is equal parts fashion and function.
The Puzzle Fold Tote is defined by bold, graphic lines and clean cross-stitched details with an architectural design that is very malleable. Like every Loewe bag, the new Puzzle Fold tote is meticulously crafted—cut and stitched to allow the bag to unfold from flat to standing in one easy move. It’s just as easily able to fold into a neat square, making it a breeze to pack and travel with, thanks to its lightweight body as well.
Available for women in a mini and a medium size crafted from shiny nappa leather and for men in an oversized shiny calf leather version, the Puzzle Fold Tote will launch on July 13th in stores and online. Prices range from $1,600 for the mini to $2,300 for the large. Discover more via Loewe and shop beginning July 13th.

It looks like Issey Miyake’s famous bag
OMG! I love this Puzzle tote! I don’t own any Loewe. I think this bag will definitely be a purchase for the fall.
I am in love with it, as well. I was thinking “I don’t need a basic tote” but this seems anything but basic; plus, it really seems so packable.
I like this tote, but I feel like Loewe is starting to take some shortcuts. Something I’ve noticed on their newer bags, is the gold brand name stamp. I prefer the debossed anagram, and think better it reflects the attention to detail one would expect from Loewe. The gold stamped brand name feels more like a contemporary designer brand, which Loewe is not.
That mini is TDF. I love this bag. And such a reasonable price for a beautiful bag. Loewe is killing it these days!
You know you have lost all sense of what most people’s income is when you describe a $2300 bag as reasonably priced. Hahaha
If this was FoodBlog, or MedicineBlog, I would understand your comment to me, but it’s PurseBlog. And you weren’t correct, I was referring to the $1600 price as reasonable, not the $2300. I get it, both are insane in the big scheme of things, but again, this is a website for high end handbags, so pricing comments are relative bag to bag.
I spy with my little eye….an asshole!
Another great success of Jonathan Anderson and the creative team of Loewe!! This is another quiet luxury exponent of what is so fashionable. And if instead you like mega logos you have other models with the large anagram or the monogram. There are models for all tastes in Loewe.
How innovative! Will be good for traveling.
Reminds me of Issey Miyake’s Bao Bao/Origami bag. Beautiful nonetheless!
When it caves it on the side, I don’t love it. When it’s on full display, it’s quite beautiful.
All it is to make folds like origami is not to copy Miyake’s Bao bab. Especially because Loewe already created folding models more than 12 years ago with the Cube or the Pillow, what he has done is mix that concept with the Puzzle. There is nothing invented just re-version.
Looks like nanushka’s origami tote bag.
Just visited the Loewe store in Soho and tried on all sizes before landing on the mini in orange. Vibrant, beautiful, adjustable crossbody or shoulder strap, it’s perfect for a grab and go and even better that it folds down to a square for packing on a trip.
