I went to one of Manhattan's Gucci boutiques this past weekend for the first time since before Alessandro Michele took over the brand's creative direction several seasons ago, and the first thing that struck me while making my way up to the third-floor women's ready-to-wear section was how much product there was on the floor. Some luxury boutiques have a spare, minimalist approach to stocking their sales floors--a couple bags here, a few silk blouses on hangers there. For some of them, that's because their collections don't contain enough variation to look interesting when merchandised in bulk; it's better that things look tightly edited and elusive. Everywhere you look at Gucci, though, there's something new, and it's all a little different than the last thing you laid eyes on, or the thing you're about to see.
That's by design--each of those dazzling pieces is in very limited stock, and the attendant product churn gives the collection a sense of constant newness. The bags of Gucci Pre-Fall 2017, which debuted earlier today, are the latest to be added to that ceaseless lineup. You can check them out below, but as you might expect, they fit seamlessly as a continuation and expansion of the new Gucci look, including maxi-sized Syvlies and more Marmont designs. (There may or may not be a fanny pack.)
