Gucci Green Has Me Falling Back in Love With the Dionysus

This beloved bag shines in one of the season's most coveted hues

While it hasn’t even been a decade since Alessandro Michele was appointed creative director at Gucci, the designer has already made an impact on fashion and Gucci forever, pioneering gender inclusivity and creating new House icons along the way. Fans eagerly, and not-so-patiently, waited to see what the brand’s Fall 2015 collection (the first under Michele’s direction) had in store, and the runway did not disappoint.

The presentation would reinvent Gucci forever, possessing a mix of 70s glamour meets casual luxury. As for the bags, one of Gucci’s most iconic new classics was introduced with this collection, the Gucci Dionysus. One of the brand’s biggest debuts to date, the Gucci Dionysus is beloved by many, reappearing season after season in the brand’s unmistakeable GG supreme canvas, leather and a plethora of novelty versions too.

A play on Gucci’s heritage, revisited and renewed, the Dionysus is characterized by its standout tiger head spur closure, which is an ode to Gucci’s House archives. The tiger head closure is a unique detail that references the Greek god Dionysus, who in myth is said to have crossed the river Tigris on a tiger sent to him by Zeus.

A chunky chain strap finishes the bag, allowing its user effortless wear from shoulder to top handle carry. The bag is presented once again this season in one of Spring’s most coveted colors—green, and it has us falling back in love with the Dionysus. The bag’s stunning color is offset by hardware that is emblazoned with emerald green crystals and this bag is nothing short of a show stopper.

Purchase via Gucci for $2,690 in the small shoulder bag or $1,450 in the mini wallet on chain.
