There are a few things you will know to be true about me if you read this site, and one of them that has never changed is that I’m a Gucci girl through and through. I’ve been a Gucci girl since the start of my handbag journey, and working closely with their team has only furthered my adoration for the brand.
My latest Gucci love is the Gucci Giglio. I wrote a super in-depth review on my new Substack, so you can read every single detail about the bag there, but I also wanted to share with you why this bag speaks to me. Here are 12 reasons—granted, I could make so many more—why this bag works for me!
Stylish Heritage Meets Functionality
- It’s a Gucci Girl’s Dream: If you’ve been with me for a while, you know I’m a full-on Gucci devotee. This bag hits all the nostalgic buttons without feeling dated.
- Featherlight Wonder: Larger tote, practically weightless. I can carry my life without feeling like I’m in a gym session.
- Timeless Design: GG canvas + Web stripe + brown leather trim. Classic Gucci vibes that never go out of style.
- Bonus Clutch: The interior pouch is detachable, doubling as a chic clutch. As a devoted pouch girl, this feels like destiny.
- Open Yet Secure: Yes, it’s an open tote, but it holds everything safely, and that little magnetic clasp? Nice touch.
- Laptop-Friendly: The slightly East-West silhouette accommodates my laptop effortlessly. Work <–> meet style.
- Everyday Rotation Material: Casual, easy, and versatile. I see this bag living in heavy rotation for months to come.
- Effortless Over-the-Shoulder Wear: It fits my 5’10.5” frame perfectly. Sometimes, I need to make a tiny strap adjustment, but hey, nothing’s perfect.
- Minimal Fuss, Max Impact: No internal compartments to complicate life. What you see is what you get and it works beautifully.
- Classic Meets Nostalgia: Archival Gucci vibes with a fresh twist. It’s like your favorite throwback song but in leather and canvas.
- Price Worth It (if You’ll Use It): The Giglio is $2,250. A splurge, yes, but it’s justified when a bag becomes a workhorse. And in this handbag pricing landscape, it still feels well-priced.
- Conversation Starter: Friends, colleagues, and even celebrities are loving this one. There’s nothing like a little GG canvas to spark compliments.

A new small size is added, offering a removable shoulder strap. While the small size won’t fit your laptop, it brings the same shape and vibe in a more compact size. Plus, you know me and my love for any shoulder strap for maximum usage, so yay!

Has anyone tried it on while wearing a jacket or coat?
I tried on the small one and I think it’s a great everyday bag. As much as I love the larger one, I’m only 5’1 and it just looks ridiculous on me
Yes, totally get that! I am tall and have a bigger frame, so this size works on me, but I love that they offer the smaller size too!
I wish it was done in GG supreme as it would be a lot more durable. But the shape overall is cool and functional. I am a sucker for a large tote.
I just bought the small one in beige and I love it! It’s a splurge for me but one that I do not regret.
I recently bought the small one in beige also. Love the additional strap and pouch. I find it holds everything I need for daily use. No regrets here.
I like the look of the smaller one my problem is that it’s fabric on the bottom – it would get ruined in no time
I haven’t carried mine enough to have it show a lot of wear yet, but yes, it may!
I was just in the boutique, great looking bag. I like the small version. I have never had an issue with Gucci quality, I think it would hold up including the bottom.
You’re lucky because every Gucci bag in regular GG fabric I have owned has ended up fraying.
They are marketing the hell out of this bag. It was in the center window at the store on Via dei Condotti in the summer, the marketing video played on repeat at Fiumicino, major influencers showcasing one….that being said, I did try the large bc I couldn’t decide if I loved it or it was hype and I actually felt it was comfortable and easy to carry. Exercising some self-restraint, and also bc I had purchased another bag on the trip (let’s put it this way—I closed my eyes when I signed the receipt but was simultaneously giddy—yes, one of THOSE moments), I passed on this. I thought all my stuff would congregate to the bottom and I have not yet evolved enough to have separate pouches for different items in my bags to make « bag switching » a breeze. That’ll be my goal for 2026. This is a great summer bag, IMHO.
I bought the large in brown when it dropped and then got the blue in small when that one dropped. I love this style so much and I have a great CA! I also bought the Gucci Mini GG in blue and white denim which I also love!
First of all, this was an excellent article showing the form and function of this bag. I love my 25 year old beat up Gucci tote. It looks like this bag will last forever and get even better with age, like my beat up old thing. I’ve recently invested in the LV Reverse Neverfull in navy leather…my very first Neverfull and feel the same way about that bag as you do about this gem. Enjoy it!
Yes one particular thing about this line of Gucci canvas is that it is weightless. Hence extremely packable. I speak of this from experience with an old abbey tote, I appreciated – also used – it so much, and could not find a replacement when mine was too worn after 10+ years of heavy use. I am now curious about this one… tempting…
Loving my large denim giglio .. fits everything and with an extra pouch I’m super organized. Had a matching strap from an old Jackie bag which is more decoration than anything … like you said a total lightweight workhorse that gets loads of compliments!!
oooh, love this! I think the small would look better on me as I’m short! But what a great price point!!!
More a Louis Vuitton and Chanel girl … I do own four Gucci’s a Snow Glam a small backpack a Babushka Boston bag and a leather hobo… Can’t say I like this one your wearing but everyone has different taste makes the world interesting
Purse blog will never be objective when it comes to GUCCI.
This bag is a less attractive version of the Gucci sukey bag. That was a carry all bag too, just way more stylish.
If you really like this bag do not worry as it will hit the outlets in no time.
LOL Very true
How did no one call AI on this writing? It’s so obvious Chatty G was used.
