Though Chanel first showed its Cruise 2022/23 collection at the Beach Hotel in Monte Carlo, a replica show took place in Miami this past weekend. What is a replica show, you may ask? Well, it is exactly as its name suggests: a replication of a past show in a new venue, and this time it was on Miami Beach in a fully custom set and scene.
Vlad and I were invited by Chanel to experience the show and see the items that are available now in stores in Miami, which will be available worldwide beginning tomorrow, November 8th. This collection is reminiscent of years past, with on-the-nose accessories that are playful yet functional, and this plays off the codes of the House from years past. Of course, there were very classic pieces, with lots of tweed and colors that you’d expect for a Cruise collection, but there were also novelty bags.
The New Chanel Cruise Novelty Bags Delight
Tennis bags meant for full-sized racquets and ping-pong-sized racquets were slung over the back of models’ bodies. There were motorcycle helmet bags that sauntered down the runway while the music was overlain with the noises of motorcycles whizzing by. The collection is fresh, clean, and effortless while intricately over-the-top; that is just how Chanel likes it.
Just as the final walkthrough took place, a quick Miami shower passed over, and everything felt perfectly imperfect and magical all at once. Many times, it is events like these that make me remember exactly what the brand is selling us. While it is a bag or any other item, there is a story and feeling behind it all. That makes the bags we carry so special, especially when you get a special part of a really extraordinary collection.
Fun bags but the clothes are so uninspired. There are so many brands and designers out there that do so much better work. If it was not for Chanel logo nobody would take a second look.
As always, Chanel stays timeless and beautiful. True to the brand’s aesthetic of chic yet easy to live in pieces. Stunning collection!
Cue the usual Chanel haters. 🤣
That is just not fair. I have a bag closet full of Chanel, a shoe closet with a couple of boots, shoes and a pair of sneakers, a scarf, Jewelry boxes are in abundance too. I have more CC Jewelry than my local boutique, I even had a sequins black beret but I sold it… AND YET I love almost NONE of this! Save for the white top handle and black bag. Because I don’t love a handbag that doubles as a baseball doesn’t make me a hater…it makes me discerning!
Totally agree with you. The white top handle is the best of the lot. The others are way too gimmicky. Tennis rackets, soccer balls, slot machines, really? Seems like a throwback to Judith Leiber novelty designs. With the prices charged for Chanel, buyers should stick with more timeless designs.
I don’t know why you feel personally feel victimized by Fabuleux’s comment to list your entire Chanel’s collection of only “”shoes and accessories”” it’s obviously not directed towards you but people who constantly stalk these posts just to shade or hate on Chanel for no good reason.
I loved the motorcycle helmet micro bags personally. It was Megs’ and my first Chanel show we attended; the brand did not spare any expense to make it an opulent production.
So cool!
It sounds like a fun experience! 😊
Everything is so gorgeous, nothing innovative though, but very beautiful nonetheless. Already seen it on Instagram with some people resorting to calling the collection ugly, tacky, or awful as if they can afford anything above a pair of earrings.
Why do you assume that if they don’t like something it’s because they can’t afford it?
not op, but honestly, as someone who browse stores a lot…. ive overheard/noticed a lot of people tend to play down the beauty or claim they don’t like it because it’s out of their price range. Chanel being the most expensively priced luxury brand out there, it’s not far-fetched.
Linda, I am sorry but wholeheartedly disagree. Besides my classic flaps, I wouldn’t be caught wearing anything else. Doesn’t mean I can’t afford anything but a piece of jewelry. Such a pretentious remark, ugh! By the way, I don’t own any Chanel jewels any longer. Did not and do not care for them on me. Does that mean that I cannot afford them……I think not! Time to come back down to earth…
Chanel is not the most expensively priced luxury brand out there…. Chanel is a brand for people that loves status not fashion. So many designers (Peter Do, Christopher John Rogers etc) and brands out there… So many…. but people think they show their affection for fashion by wearing Chanel. So sad and so untrue…
I agree, your statement is untrue <3
Each his own taste…
Awful.
Except for the baby tennis racquet.
What a fun show! Lots of great pieces, as well as the usual runway whimsy. I’m very interested in that large, white bag with the double zips.
my Chanel collection for the classic only , not interest seasonal pieces
Looks amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I loved the clothing. The bags were just okay. The novelty items never fail to disappoint.
I love both the blue tweed and yellow tweed jackets 💛💙
Definitely a beautiful fun show. However i would never purchase a motorcycle helmet bag or tennis bag they just seem too awkward to use and i would regret my purchase. I do like a smaller crossbody these days for shopping but it must be able to hold my phone wallet and keys. So although fun there are only a handful of bags that i would be interested in. As for the clothes nothing over the top but the models do look beautiful!
Even though I would not wear anything Chanel with the exception of my classic flaps, I can appreciate all of the items above and the creativity that went into them.
I would love to create ideas for Chanel. My personal fashion incorporates a lot of Chanel fashion accessories. Give me a chance, Chanel.
