Platform sandals are back, and they are taking off rather quickly, so bear that in mind as you make your post-holiday shoe purchases. Charlotte Olympia has already taken a quick lead on the platform front, and one of her latest styles is a huge hit with celebs this week (as well as with yours truly.) In other news, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out today, and whether that excites you or not, the movie's LA premiere has provided us with some of our best shoes of the week; I imagine the subsequent international Star Wars premieres will continue to deliver on both the bag and shoe front.
Christian Louboutin Rivierina Pumps
$745 via Nordstrom
Daisy Ridley is a relative Hollywood newcomer who features prominently in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I think she made quite a statement in her white Chloé Atelier gown at the LA Star Wars premiere, with a definite assist from those gorgeous, floral Christian Louboutin Rivierina Pumps. I don't know when this version will become available to people who did not appear in Star Wars, but I want a pair.
Charlotte Olympia Octavia Platform Sandals
$1,010 via Selfridge's
Today in "unexpected celeb pals", we have Freida Pinto and Serena Williams, just hanging out at the opening of Audemars Piguet on Rodeo Drive. This is an absurd amount of celebrity clout for a store that still sells watches. (I know they remain a luxury staple, but uh, there's a free one on my phone.) Frieda is wearing a beautiful black cut-out pair of Charlotte Olympia Octavia Platform Sandals.
Chloé Suzanna Booties
$1,295 via Net-a-Porter
Here's Hilary Duff, entering LAX in a pair of the ever popular Chloé Suzanna Booties. Technically, I think this is our first sighting of a celeb in a pair of Chloé Suzannas this winter, but they have been an extremely popular fall/winter option for celebs over the past few years.
Casadei Velvet Criss-Cross Sandals
$795 via Saks
Jennifer Lawrence was recently spotted heading into The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in a pair of lush, black velvet Casadei sandals, which I imagine translated very nicely to the small screen. Excellent choice, Jennifer. Hey, can I have Amy Schumer's number?
Alaïa Platform Hiking Boots
$864 via THE OUTNET
Here's Kelly Rowland, still shopping at The Grove in a pair of Alaïa Platform Hiking Boots, which it should be noted are only ideal for hiking through outdoor malls. Don't be fooled by those rubber soles.
Nicholas Kirkwood Lace-Up Sandals
Shop Nicholas Kirkwood via Saks
Kylie Jenner chose to wear her Nicholas Kirkwood Lace-Up sandals to (so enthusiastically) make her debut as the brand ambassador for Nip + Fab's skincare line. I looked into Nip + Fab (so you don't have to), and it's exactly what you might expect Kylie to promote: breast-firming creams, "micro-blur" serums that help ensure selfie perfection and products with names like "Dragon's Blood" and "Viper Venom," which (so far as I can tell) thankfully contain none of either.
Saint Laurent Chain Link Ankle Boots
Shop Saint Laurent via Saks
Here's Nicky Hilton, attempting to walk around NYC in these beautiful but treacherous Saint Laurent ankle boots. Still, these boots look fantastic if you're sitting or standing perfectly still. And isn't that what you're paying for? No?
Charlotte Olympia Octavia Sandals
$1,010 via Selfridge's
Finally, we have Sofia Veragara, also making her grand entrance on the red carpet of the LA Star Wars premiere. (The roster of celebrity guests at this movie premiere goes on forever.) She just happens to be wearing a gold version of Freida Pinto's Charlotte Olympia sandals, which means these sandals are DEFINITELY having a moment.
