With Memorial Day weekend behind us, I am switching gears into summer mode. As the days get longer and the city buzz becomes palpably calmer, my life seems to reset and recharge during the most relaxed season of the year. Like many city dwellers, my favorite part of summer is getting out of town and visiting the beach. I grew up spending summers on Cape Cod, so I will always associate summer with long, lazy beach days. I certainly wish I could pack up and spend the next three months on a New England beach, but sadly adult responsibilities get in the way. Never the less, I’ve got a few beach trips lined up this summer and I could not be more thrilled about it. In fact, I’ve already started making a mental packing list for my beach trip in July (early, I know!). While mulling over my vacay outfits, it occurred to me that I really don’t own a good beach tote. With several beach trips before the end of summer, I’m in dire need of adding one to my wardrobe.
In the past I have thrown my belongings into random canvas totes for a day in the sun, but I am looking to elevate my beach style this year. There’s nothing wrong with a canvas tote for the beach, but I’ve realized I feel most confident and my best self when I feel proud of the bag on my arm. That being said, there is truly nowhere else I’d rather feel my best self than on a beachy vacation. I tend to carry a lot with me for a day at the beach, usually opting to bring some magazines, two or three books, sunglasses, a hat, towel, and my favorite reef safe sunscreen. Oh and I can’t forget water and snacks! I never forget my snacks for a long beach day. Bonus points for a bag cute enough to carry to dinner and drinks.
