If Disney Characters Donned Designer Bags…

You’ve got a Fendi in Me.

My love of Disney began when I was a toddler and is still going strong today. I grew up watching the animated films on repeat, and even though I’m now old enough to have figured out that the “D” in the Disney logo is not a backwards G, I still make it a point to see just about every movie Disney makes. I may be in my early thirties, but that doesn’t stop me from seeing them in theaters (I just saw the live action Aladdin last Saturday!) or visiting Disney World. No one creates age defying magic like Disney can, and I love the nostalgic and happy feeling I get when I watch the familiar stories. The only thing better than the stories is singing the musical ballads accompanying them…which I often do, loudly. It is truly a time to be alive for Disney fans, because the live action The Lion King is coming out next month and the release of Toy Story 4 is this week.

My love of Disney and handbags merged together at an early age, as passions often do. One of my very first handbags (hmm…possibly my very first ever?!) was a children’s handbag crafted from purple plastic, likely purchased directly from the Disney Store, adorned with tiny red roses and a picture of Belle of Beauty and the Beast printed on the front. It was a Christmas gift from my grandma in the early ‘90s, and I wore it daily throughout the duration of my elementary school years. I wish I still had that little bag, but sadly I haven’t seen it in about 20 years. I may not be carrying a cartoon adorned plastic handbag any time soon, but that doesn’t mean I can’t have a little Disney inspiration in my handbag selections. If you just happen to be a Disney fan, or you’ve got a trip to a Disney theme park coming up, these bags may be the perfect fit for you!

Woody

Woody would clearly opt for a Fendi Space Monkey Charm over a handbag, mainly because this adorable little charm would come to life with the rest of the toys and come along on all of their adventures. I can see this Fendi charm fitting in seamlessly with the characters in Buzz and Woody’s inner circle. I have a thing for bag charms, and this one is no exception. I know Woody and the gang would take this Space Monkey charm under their wing, because after all, “you’ve got a Fendi in me!”.

Belle

Belle is definitely my favorite Disney character…always has been, always will. She is much more interested in books than fashion, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t love this Saint Laurent Loulou bag in the metallic gold option. Not only does it match Belle’s iconic “Tale as Old as Time” dress, but it has certainly caught my eye and has the potential to become my first metallic handbag purchase.

Ariel

This Edie Parker clutch fits Ariel’s aesthetic to a T. Ariel has a cavern to hold her gadgets and gizmos aplenty, and her whozits and whatzits galore, so she may have a hard time carrying a mini bag. At least she could fit her dinglehopper and leave the rest of her collection at home. Because this bag is made of velvet, it would be better suited for use on land than the sea. I love the color scheme of this bag and think it would be perfect for any fans of The Little Mermaid.

Princess Tiana

Princess Tiana is one of the coolest princesses Disney has ever had, and I admire her spark. I love her ambitious nature and I think she definitely needs a bag with a cool-girl edge. I imagine her rocking this Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag. It has a unique polka dot strap, not to mention that the mint green color matches her gorgeous gown perfectly.

Cinderella

Cinderella in her iconic blue ball gown is the quintessential image of a Disney Princess that comes to mind for many of us. I love the cartoon version of Cinderella, but I truly came to appreciate Cinderella for the gem that she is after seeing Lily James’ portrayal of her in the live action version released in 2015. The Balenciaga Mini City bag in baby blue matches her ball gown, all you need is a pair of glass slippers to emulate the style of this beloved princess.

Queen Elsa

Newer to the Disney lineup, Queen Elsa burst onto the scene and made her mark on the hearts of many Disney fans overnight. “Let It Go” is conceivably the best Disney song of all time, and the ultra-popular Frozen has a much-anticipated sequel, Frozen 2, coming out later this year. I think this Judith Leiber Schloss Castle clutch just screams Elsa, don’t you agree?

The Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland is definitely one of the scarier Disney characters, but despite her affinity for yelling “off with her head”, I’ve got to admit that she does have a signature style. This Dolce & Gabbana bag made me think of her from the moment I saw it. The eye catching hardware makes this bag stand out from the crowd, and I love the ornate details of the heart.

Flynn Rider

Tangled’s Flynn Rider often references his “satchel” throughout the film. In fact, the satchel is a main focus of several scenes, so it would be unjust not to pair him with a fabulous messenger bag. This John Varvatos bag has a cool guitar strap detail that I think the suave Flynn would love. Who knows? If Flynn Rider, also known as Eugene, had carried this bag, he may have never gotten his precious satchel back.

Any other Disney fans out there?! I’d love to know which bags you would you pair with your favorite character.
