DeMellier’s “The Venice” Bag Has Me Excited

I'm new to DeMellier bags and I've got my eye on one in particular...

You know that familiar feeling of the giddy excitement you get when you find a new brand of handbags that you form an instant connection to? A treasure trove of new designs to covet, there’s nothing better or more exhilarating for a purse lover that discovering a fresh new brand. I recently found a British brand that gave me that feeling, DeMellier. The bags are sleek, sophisticated, and have a city vibe aesthetic that I adore. I was hooked by the designs alone, but after looking deeper at the company, I have become completely smitten. Not only does DeMellier design gorgeous bags, but they also have a motto of “a bag, a life”, which is their initiative that funds a set of vaccines and treatments to a child in need with every handbag purchase made.

DeMellier was founded by the talented Spanish designer Mireia Llusia-Lindh. All of DeMillier’s handbags are handcrafted in the south of Spain and the brand describes them as a “mix of old and new, of heritage and modernity”, which seems fitting given their polished designs. Another element of the brand that I love is that they will complimentary monogram your items with initials, a word, special date, or even a short phrase to personalize your bag. I love personalizing my items and have never seen a bag that allows the embossment of a short quote or phrase, so that option is extremely appealing, especially since it is at no additional cost to the consumer.

DeMellier has an impressive selection of handbags, wallets, pouches, cardholders, and other small leather goods. Each handbag is named after a city, which really speaks to my travel-loving heart. The DeMellier bag that has most caught my eye is “The Venice” bag. Designed with a handheld strap and a removable crossbody strap, I am already loving the dual functionality of this bag and I don’t even own one yet. It features a large fold-over magnetic flap that has a hanging tassel accent. There is a panel running down the center of the fold-over flap that is slightly raised, drawing your eye in and creating dimension without looking too busy. The Venice is available in suede, croc and snake-embossed leather, and traditional leather options plus a multitude of colors. As if I needed any more convincing that I must have this bag, it turns out Meghan Markle is a fan too. The royal icon wore The Venice bag in the “forest grain” shade, a beautiful dark green hue.

The Venice is available in four sizes, so there really is a size for everybody. The dimensions of each size are:

The Venice (14.5” W x 11” H, x 3.5” D)
The Midi Venice (10” W x 9” H x 3” D)
The Mini Venice (7” W x 7.5” H x 3” D)
The Nano Venice (7” W x 7” H x 3” D)

While I love all of the sizes, I am particularly drawn to the midi and the mini versions versus the largest version of this bag. The best part about DeMellier bags is the price point. The Venice designs range from $375-560 depending on size and material—this handbag is definitely well-priced. The rest of DeMellier’s bags are reasonably priced as well, landing this brand a permanent spot on my wish list. I may need to sneak away from ‘Ban Island’ temporarily to snag one of these.
