Bottega Veneta

Exclusive Look at the Making Of a Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Olimpia Handbag

In September I shared a closer look at one of the exclusive Bottega Veneta bags created to celebrate the new Handbag Main Floor at Bergdorf Goodman. This bag was probably my favorite of the lot, as the bag itself showcases a three-dimensional effect to highlight a map of Manhattan with the clasp being Bergdorf Goodman.

In late October, artisans from the Bottega Veneta atelier in Vicenza, Italy were on hand at Bergdorf Goodman to showcase and demonstrate how this bag was crafted. Vlad and I have had the pleasure of seeing the Bottega Veneta artisans at work three times now – once in Italy, once at the NYC flagship, and in October at Bergdorf Goodman.

The experience is something to behold and it helps showcase the craftsmanship that goes into creating a Bottega Veneta bag and continues to show me why I love my Bottega Veneta bags so much; not only are they beautiful to look at but also they are made by hand, and that can’t be said for many bags anymore. This bag is exclusive to Bergdorf Goodman and a limited edition. Price is $3,500 and you can buy each version here: pink, yellow, black, red, blue, and gray.

Due in 5 days, but we were told she’d likely be late!

UGH. That’s no fun. Tell her we’re thinking good thoughts for her (and you!)

Nah! I feel good!! The Dr and nurse yesterday said a lot of people don’t feel well at this point, but overall I’m feeling really good!! I mean, I’ve slept better but I feel like this is just a slight preview of what’s to come 😉

if it makes you feel any better, I was a MONTH late! My mom was miserable lmfao I wouldn’t seat my head and she had to be induced, and instead of having a planned VBAC ended up with a c-section.

BV has never been my thing, but I’ve always appreciated the obvious craftsmanship. Very labor intensive and worth every dime.

What’s interesting – if you look closer it is not plaited in the strict sense of the word like some other plaited bags. The lower leather is cut to accomodate the strips – so it is more embroidered than plaited 🙂

I always thought the strips of leather were interwoven, but apparently they’re woven into one leather piece, which doubles the layers. Great craftsmenship and post!

BV is special. I have fallen hard for this brand ever since my first purchase last year of a never-ceases-to-impress intrecciato shopper tote in tourmaline. Even the boutique and customer experience differ from others I regularly patronize. With the utmost professionalism and obsession with quality, the brand manages to ooze extreme luxury while conveying a sense of casual elegance; a sort of, ‘if you get it, you get it’ vibe. I may own more pieces from other designers, but I truly love BV.
