Bottega Veneta Continues to Explore Fun New Territory with New Shapes and Structures for Resort 2019

Even a new belt bag makes a couple appearances in the collection's lookbook

Traditionally, when I think of Bottega Veneta, I think of two types of bags: work bags and evening bags. That’s not to say that the brand hasn’t long made plenty of casual options, of course, but Bottega’s target customer has always been a woman with a place to be, whether it’s the office or a swanky event. As the fashion industry has started to become a more casual place, though, the brand has started to follow suit in small ways, some of which are on display in the new Bottega Veneta Resort 2019 lookbook.

Bottega Veneta has been undergoing this subtle shift for a couple seasons now, which has most notably involved the use of brighter colors, often in multiples on a single bag. The brand’s intrecciato leather lends itself to that nicely, and you’ll see plenty of it in this collection. (If you worried Bottega might be getting too far from its signatures, don’t—the changes are subtle and the bags are unmistakably BV.)

In this particular lineup, the bags are structured a bit more casually that you might be used to from Bottega. The brand has tended toward top handles, totes and clutches in the past, but the lookbook includes plenty of small crossbody bags, as well as some oversized fanny packs. Check out all the bags from the lookbook below.
