Since his appointment at Bottega Veneta, Daniel Lee has continued to push boundaries, focusing on avant-garde shapes, exploring new silhouettes and reinventing classic house codes. His attention to detail and unique eye for accessories has not gone unnoticed, and season after season he has churned out big bag hits for the brand. In his short time at Bottega, Lee has single handedly skyrocketed the brand's popularity, and today we're taking a look at his latest bags for the brand.
For his resort 2021 bags, Lee focused on reinventing old shapes while introducing unique new silhouettes. The Pouch Bag appeared as a stand-out accessory, covered in wooden beads and carried by a model donning a dress printed with naked human bodies. Additionally, Lee has introduced a new house code, a V, for Veneta of course, which reoccurs throughout the collection both as a RTW detail as well as a motif on Lee's accessories.
Seen on various new bags, a medium satchel bag in buttery smooth leather showcases the V detail best, which functions as a top handle. The most interesting new shape is a structured flap bag in a beautiful dark wine hue. This bag also features the new V motif, but in the form of an understated hardware detail, which sits on the bag's flap closure. While overall the bags are undeniably less wearable than past collections, Lee's attention to detail and knack for making the unordinary work is what we've come to expect from this new Bottega. Take a look at bags from the collection below.
