Manhattan’s Upper East Side is home to some of the best luxury stores and restaurants, not to mention some of the city’s most charming blocks. It is also a neighborhood that is full of some of New York’s chicest residents, and you know what goes hand in hand with chic style: great bags.
During the holidays, the UES sees some of the neighborhood’s busiest days, with tourists and locals alike enjoying the holidays in New York. From Thanksgiving all the way through New Year’s Eve, the UES is abuzz with those doing their Christmas shopping, enjoying a stop at Ralph’s Coffee, or heading to Wollman Rink for an ice skating date, all with their best bags in hand.
We spent a freezing December day out and about on Madison Avenue to see what Manhattanites (and tourists alike) were carrying during the season’s first cold front. There was lots of Louis Vuitton, classic Hermès (that burgundy Vintage Kelly is the bag of my dreams), plus new (and old) Valentino. More below!

Finally! I’ve missed these!
This is such fun and so festive! I love seeing shoppers around the city near Christmas! I love the big coats and the Chanel bags – beautiful!
This! The big coats and I love how some are in fun prints/ motifs!
Best Kelly I’ve seen thus far, IMO. Love, love the deep cherry color way. Festive and dressy and chic and classy. Def the kind of bag I’d sport if I still worked in corporate America.
The Upper East Side never disappoints when it comes to chic fashion! 🎄🖤 Excited to get some holiday bag inspiration from this list.
Pops of red in the winter are always so beautiful…
I’m generally not a fan of Valentino bags but I love that tote.
Love the UES ladies! Thank you!
