Valentino Cassis Couture Bag

Valentino Cassis Couture Bag Valentino handbags should not be confused with the other well known “V” designer, Versace bags, which can be tacky, over-done, and far too ornate. Not always, but lately, Valentino handbags fit into a category of dazzling. I am not always raving about Valentino, but there is a feminine allure that somehow … Read more

Miley Cyrus Style: The Sak Silverlake Satchel

miley cyrus the sak bag

Honestly, I do not understand the hype surrounding Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus. Disney channel, sold out concerts, semi nude-like photos, whatever. But there are millions of girls (and boys and moms and dads) worldwide that adore Miley Cyrus (or her alter ego, not sure who is more loved). Miley was spotted carrying The Sak Silverlake Satchel in dark amber two days in a row. This satchel can also be worn as a hobo, similar to the Botkier Sasha. There are many reasons that I really love The Sak bags. First of all they are highly affordable. But even with the lower price point, the bags are still designed well and look quite nice. Miley was sporting the bag in dark amber, but it is also available in black, cream, black patent, and white patent. Best part is they are only $200 via The Sak.

Chloe Cyndi Tote

Chloe Cyndi Tote

It’s a grey, grey day in Georgia. And apparently, it’s going to be like this for the rest of the week, which might as well be forever. We need the rain, but I get in such a funk when it’s like this that all I accomplish is a lot of tv-watching and online shopping.

So, in honor of the grey skies outside, I bring you the Chloe Cyndi Tote in taupe (looks like grey to me – taupe is misleading!). I was drawn to this bag initially because of the color (grey is my favorite neutral), but what made me decide to write about it is that it gives you a lot of things to look at without being at all overdone or busy.

After you’ve been a designer bag enthusiast for a while, bags tend to run together. All too few designers do inventive, interesting things with their purses, but the Cyndi has some details that are truly editorial.

Review: Kara Ross Levis

Kara Ross Levis

Resort handbags are one of my favorite lines to shop. It is most likely because Vlad and I live where many people vacation. Sure, Fort Lauderdale is quite hot right now, but the ocean breeze, blue skies, and warm weather keeps me here. Resort handbags are made for those that vacation or live in the right places with the right climate. When I lived in Ohio, a chic resort bag would be great for about one month, but I would still stand out. And as much as I like garnering attention, I do not crave the spotlight either. This is why I am rejoicing that I live in Florida and can easily wear the Kara Ross Levis Bag designed with a cork body and purple ostrich accents and handles. Kara Ross handbags have continued amaze me. Sure, I like a great black handbag, but I live 40 minutes from South Beach, I can work with the pizazz. In fact, I need more of it in my life! But this handbag by Kara Ross is not outlandish, in fact it is subdued, yet captivating.

Christian Louboutin Very Noeud Slingbacks

Christian Louboutin Very Noeud Slingbacks

I’m just not an outside girl. Amanda loves her air-conditioning, refrigerator and pajamas. I’ve never been camping, skiing, or a big fan of going to the lake (I do love the beach, though, but that’s neither here nor there). Sweating makes my hair frizz and my makeup travel around my face. So, on outdoor-centric holidays such as this past July 4th, yours truly was not exactly out there flippin’ burgers on the grill. I come from a long line of women with the same attitude, and what I have learned from them in my 22 years is that there are people out there – people that run mid-tier cable networks – that feel our pain, and on most holidays, there are glorious marathons of wonderful television shows and movies to entertain us while the crazies do things outside.

There are several on that piqued my interest this past Friday: What Not to Wear, The Twilight Zone, NCIS. It’s a veritable buffet of television options to mesmerize me for hours. What I’m really interested in, however, is the 8 hours of Alfred Hitchcock’s best movies on TCM. ‘Psycho,’ ‘Vertigo,’ ‘The Birds,’ and ‘Rear Window.’ My mom used to watch Hitchcock movies with me when I was little and I couldn’t sleep, and ever since, I have a deep and abiding love for every movie the man ever made (and his TV show).

The Hermes Bicycle

Hermes Bicycle

It does not happen all that often that my own passions directly collide with my fiancee’s and I have the opportunity to tell you all about it in excitement. You must know that I have been hooked on biking – both mountain and road – for as long as I can remember. The love for cycling must have started when I was 4 and my mom first took off my training wheels and I crashed (head first) into a deep ditch.

Strategic Air: Private Air Charter

Strategic Air EventThe resonating theme of the Strategic Airline Event Vlad and I attended in the beginning on June was “It is the only way to fly“. The ‘it’ being referred to is private air charter. And I am not going to sit here and pretend I have flown privately for eons, because I have not. In fact, I have never. But the perks of flying privately really are worth the price. In fact, if you are traveling with a larger group, flying privately can be as cost effective as flying via a commercial airliner, minus the long wait, early check in, and delays.

Strategic Air EventVlad and I attended an event held by Strategic Air, who specializes in worldwide private air charter, on June 11th in a private hangar at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were served as the guests mingled and boarded the aircraft and a luxury motor home that Strategic Air provides. The guests chatted and as we made our way around I realized that flying with the Deltas and US Airways is not comparable to flying privately. When you fly privately you are treated like royalty, especially by Strategic Air. From arriving to the airport to arriving at your destination the company pampers you as, offering car service, catering, hotels, and personal protection. I really would only need the catering, as the rest I can handle, but the company covers everything so that you do not have to. An array of airplanes are offered, and again, if I had it my way I would travel in one of their Heavy Jets, which can hold between 12-15 passengers.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Groovee Handbag

I have to admit, I’m biased. I love the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag line. I’m not saying they don’t make some really weird looking stuff, because they do. They really do. But at least a few of their bags per season are really chic and wearable, and they invariably use super soft, thick leathers, … Read more

Review: JT Italia HB Satchel

JT Italia HB Satchel

Vlad and I have recently had the pleasure of getting to know JT Italia Handbags one-on-one. After featuring the line a month ago, we realized that without seeing, touching, and learning about the bags in person we were missing out. Jeffrey Parker (the J of JT) and I worked out a meeting between Purse Blog and JT Italia bags in person, which included a box filled with goodies to review. By having the bags in our hands, we have been able to inspect every detail, have me try them on, and really learn what the bags are all about. Can I just tell you that these bags show a love and true understanding of handbags with each and every stitch, with the leather chosen, with the attention to detail. There is no detail or piece left behind when it comes to JT Italia Handbags, in fact the focus relies so heavily on every detail it was hard to capture to show you all.

Bird Handbags Lady

Bird Handbags LadyI will tell you a secret; to go on vacation and not go online is a real and true vacation. Don’t fool yourself with that laptop that you check only a few times, it takes you over and puts your mind back on work and all things ‘real’. Vlad and I, of course, had both of our lap tops in Key West but we ran into two glorious problems: our hotel did not have internet and Starbucks internet was so slow we could not log on. This meant deciding that the work could wait and we would truly vacation. I didn’t even sneak my iPhone to check the internet (ok, maybe once or twice). So what if I came back to over 400 emails? The vacation was a relaxing time with my family, as we all celebrated my grandmother’s 82nd birthday. Now that we are back from island time and back to civilization, with high speed internet streaming throughout the house, I am feeling a tad overwhelmed and behind. But for some reason, it does not bother me.
