Many of you have bemoaned the rise of micro bags since they emerged several seasons ago, and for you, we finally have some good news: the pendulum is starting to swing back toward big bags. During the Fall 2016 shows (and especially in the ultra-influential Paris collections), runway bags kept getting bigger and bigger; usually designers choose petite versions of their accessories for the runway so they don’t overwhelm or obscure the clothes, so the size shift is important.

That prompted me to take a look around the ever-growing number of spring arrivals at our favorite online retailers, and based on what I found, the size of fall’s runway bags doesn’t appear to be a fluke. Although there are still plenty of mini bags to be found (And there should be! I am all about choice.), it looks as though designer have remembered that many of the customers actually need to, ya know, carry stuff. Even the crossbodies are getting bigger!

Below, check out well over a dozen of the best new big bags for spring and rejoice that you can actually carry your Kindle in your new bag from here on out.

It’s really cool in person; lots of compartments and the leathers I’ve felt have all been really soft and nice.

The mini/micro bag trend was nice, and it even taught me to carry small bags. Earlier, I would only carry huge&heavy bags, mostly totes, but now I own several nice small/mini bags.

Having said that, I think it’s awesome to see large bags come back! Really liking slides 5 & 14.

I just bought a lovely Lumi XXL Supermarket tote a few weeks ago, and I’m so in love with it. Life’s necessities fit in as well as a whole bunch of other stuff. =)

I have been wanting to get myself a Lumi supermarket XL but haven’t pulled the trigger because I cannot find how much it weighs anywhere. Would you be so kind as to let me know if it is a super heavy bag?
Thanks

Thanks for establishing that with us first before just simply stating you like the Tory Bag.

I like to Tod’s, nice details, but I wonder how it opens…

I looked at that Tod’s bag today, and it was a big no. The opening was a pain to get in and out of. Basically, there’s a zipper under that first flap that opens the whole bag. However, you really have to sit the bag down to open it and get into it then to zip it. The sides also snap down on the sides. I didn’t find that it was a bag that you could keep open.

Depends on the lifestyle. I personally HATE large bags, I don’t carry a bunch of crap with me everywhere on a daily basis, and not to mention they are way too heavy and KILL your arm/back/shoulder.

Why can’t there be something in between? I don’t need micro bags that don’t fit more than a lipstick, but seriously I also don’t need a bag that looks like a weekender….For me, the Chloé Marcie medium has the perfect size. Fits all essentials, without being too big or too heavy.

I’m completely with you! I’ve been eyeing the LV Twist MM which is 9×6 – fits regular sized wallet, iPad mini, sunglass case etc. I’m just sick of totes where my stuff drowns in, or little bags for which I have to change my wallet. I want something in between that keeps me honest with the 5-6 essentials I really need without overpacking or lacking the basics.
