There are two types of people in this world. Those who believe you can’t wear white after Labor Day and those who know that white is a color for the entire year, regardless of “the rules.” I happen to fall into the latter category, but it wasn’t always this way. I used to put all of my white items away after Labor Day and wouldn’t pull them out again until Memorial Day, stashing them away all winter long. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I was the new owner of a Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Neverfull that I changed my tune. I had purchased my Neverfull at the end of November and couldn’t bear the thought of not using it for the next 6 months, so I decided to break the age old rule and use it.
As soon as the temperatures dropped and the snow started falling, I was instantly smitten with using my white bag in winter! Throughout that winter, I found that I loved carrying a light bag during the coldest season, reveling at how beautiful and fresh it looked in a sea of brown and black bags. A white or cream colored handbag is so bright and unexpected in the dreary winter and I have found that I enjoy using my white items more in the winter than the summer. While the “no white after labor day” rule still exists, I think it is starting to slowly phase away, with more people wearing the color year round. I don’t limit it just to bags, I love the look of an all white outfit—I feel so chic and put together when I’m dressed in head-to-toe white! This year I want to get a white or cream colored winter coat and maybe add a few new bags to my collection.
Below I’m sharing my favorite white bags that I’m hoping to add to my wardrobe this winter:
I see myself buying that Coach Mason Carryall and regretting it for the rest of my life.
Lmao
Feel same as long as it has warm undertone. But I live in subtropical climate. Like the way it looks with gray.
white bags are better in the summer than winter imo
Love them……..but next to dark denim is a big No.
Totally agree! I wouldn’t wear my white or cream bags with denim! Scared of the dreaded denim transfer.
Aside from the white+winter debate, the Burberry tote is by far the best bag on this list.
Agreed! Love the olive green (looks like in the pic at least) and white combo.
I think that especially today, there should be no fashion rules. Wear what you want and what makes you feel good! And if you’re new to winter white bags, a great way to start is matching cool-toned white bags (maybe with silver hardware) with black outfits as a pop, or as a monochromatic black-gray-white. If you have warmer, creamer whites (like the Coach bag) they will pair beautifully with chocolate, velvet-y browns, as well as tans and taupes. If you’re feeling a little bold, a wintry all-white outfit would look super chic, and wearing a stark white bag with bright red trousers would feel very festive and fresh!
I wore my white Alexander Wang handbag just last week. I’m carrying a yellow bag this week. I don’t think that just because it’s winter that you should put away your white or light colored bags. Because of the dreariness of the winter season, I love busting out my bright bags.
I also agree the Burberry bag is so beautiful
I’ve been loving Burberry bags lately. This one comes in so many color combos too, so if white isn’t for you there are a ton of other options!
Rules are meant to be broken! Good for you, I don’t have a white bag because I would cry if it ever got dirtied…
Love the Burberry
