The Many Bags of USA Women’s Gymnastics Team

The Golden Girls of gymnastics also love bags!

The Many Bags of USA Gymnasts

Every four years, the Olympics take over our lives in a way that gives us pride and athletic spirit for the countries and athletes of the world. Yesterday, we were flying home from Germany, and on our second flight, every TV around me was streaming the Olympics. I watched people smile and acknowledge their seatmates over a great win in different events as it happened live.

In my past life, Vlad and I were competitive swimmers (which is how we met in college after being recruited by The Ohio State University swim team). It’s been a long time, but my appreciation and understanding of the dedication and time that goes into these sports that culminate on a world stage is astounding to put into words.

One sport that has taken the world by storm is Olympic gymnastics. Team USA has already won the team all-around, and Suni Lee and Simon Biles are competing in the Individual All-Around today.

The USA Golden Girls

The team of 5 women is led by Simone Biles, the most decorated U.S. gymnast of all time, the last Olympics All-Around champion Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and 16-year-old Hezly Rivera.

The world of fashion and athletics has become quite the pair this year, and we looked at Team USA Gymnasts and the bags they carry. We also featured Alicia Sacramone Quinn, Strategic Lead for the USA Gymnastics Women’s Program, and what’s in her bag a couple years ago, which is fun to check out again!

Also, it’s not an oversight that we did not include Jade or Hezly in this roundup, as neither of their Instagram accounts showed any bags. The three other members are bag lovers like us!

Congrats and good luck to the “Golden Girls,” whom Simon Biles dubbed the “F-Around and Find Out” team!

Cute post! Love these ladies. They are amazing young women and deserve all the medals and bags. Good to see Jonathan Owens loving up on his gold medalist wife. 🙂

Antonia

Simone is so adorable and looks so happy! Love her Chanel’s!!

Sarah

Thank you for more athlete content, I love it! Go USA!

Paris

It’s wonderful that these young women are being showcased! I have only admiration for them & the positive influence they have on so many ppl, including young children. I’ve watched YouTube videos where children are inspired to try the same routines. Maybe, one day, they will be motivated to work hard in order to compete in future Olympics?

Paris

That’s so sweet! Maybe one day she’ll medal!

Julie

Wow! These girls slay IRL and when competing

AshleyGJ

Love, love, love!!

What I find most telling about this article is that there is no such thing as an amateur athlete anymore. These women wouldn’t be buying such expensive bags if they weren’t making money from endorsements. It is eye opening at how things have changed over the decades. I’m old enough to remember when the taint of taking money could ruin your chances of being in the Olympics.

Claire

But…it’s been well over thirty years since Olympic athletes were required to be amateur…

Tony

What’s more eye opening to me is the cost of being an Olympic-level athlete. The majority of these people would not be able to reach the level of elite athlete without endorsements or sponsorships. Very out of touch with this comment.

Athena

Jane isn’t out of touch with reality.
rather your out of touch with history.
Maybe you are younger. How unfortunate you didn’t experience the world of a few generations ago.

Julie

I think Jane is just pointing out how things have changed. I too am old enough to remember when athletes had to be amateurs to compete in the Olympics. It was only in the late 80s that athletes turned professional, which is the norm today. So her comment isn’t out of touch, just an observation on how things have changed. You are right that these days, you need endorsements to get to Olympic level, but that wasn’t always the case.

jane

Then explain how the athletes managed to do it in the pre-endorsement era.

Sophia

They were from wealthier families or had some kind of financial support. Endorsements allow people from a wider income range to compete. I’m old enough to remember the pre-endorsement era and consider the change a good thing.

Julie

They worked regular jobs in the off season.

Amanda R

They all look so cute! Mini bags look like regular-sized bags on them lol. Go team USA! 🇺🇸

gabriella

how bad taste these girls, a luxury bag doesn’t give style

Ann

Good thing that taste is subjective then, isn’t it?
