For a moment, I’m going to totally ignore the fact that Yves Saint Laurent made a substantially similar (and markedly less expensive) bag last season – the Alexander Wang Amber Spiral Notebook Clutch shamelessly appeals to the part of me that has wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl, and I simply cannot ignore that.

I don’t know if the attraction would be the same for everyone, but I used to carry around a notebook constantly as a little girl, and I would love the opportunity to carry a chicer, more fashionable approximation as an adult. Since I missed out on the YSL bag, this one is sort of calling my name.

This clutch is probably too skinny to be functional on most evenings, but for the rare occasion that I don’t need all of my keys or an entire wallet, I’d love to carry something like this. In fact, I’m not sure I could even fit my Blackberry into it without creating a bulge, but would I try? You betcha. I’ll wait for it to go on sale, though – the price of the similar YSL clutch makes me think that this one might be a little steep. Buy through Saks for $625.

It’s cute but I would hope you could fit a few things in it. Otherwise, just carry a black notebook.

I really love the notebook look to this clutch. YSL a few seasons back and now Wang does it. This type of notebook bag look has been done many times in the 50’s if you go back and look at old vintage bags they have this design. So I am fine with both Wang and YSL doing their version of the notebook bag. You can find a vintage one just like this one for less money of course, but it won’t have the Wang name.
