Olivia Harris Spider Lambskin Satchel

We’ve been writing a lot about Olivia Harris lately, and it’s not for nothing, as they say. Conceived by Joy Gryson and named after her baby daughter, the bags in this line are a young-looking, lower priced alternative to her eponymous collection.

So far, the whole team at PurseBlog has been really impressed by them, and if they continue to make bags like the Olivia Harris Spider Lambskin Satchel, our opinion probably won’t change any time soon.

Really, they had me at “lambskin.” It’s my absolute, hands-down favorite material for bags, there’s nothing quite like it in terms of softness and suppleness of texture. Mmmmm. It’s so buttery.

And often, it’s hard to find in reasonably priced bags. Botkier does a great job making lambskin reasonably affordable, but I wish more designers would look into using it. And that’s exactly what Olivia Harris has done – she’s made a functional, stylish, hip lambskin bag that could easily be used every day by a variety of women. The name refers to some not-too-literal strap embellishments on the front that keep the bag out of Blahville, and the whole thing doesn’t commit too hard to one trend or another to be usable for years. For what you get, you cannot beat the sub-$500 price tag. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $475.
