Created to help solidify its aesthetic identity and brand DNA, Louis Vuitton Monogram turns 130 this year, and the brand is continuing its year-long celebration with exciting new capsules and limited-edition bags.

It’s hard to imagine the fashion world without the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram, and Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges, could never have predicted the relevance and ubiquity it holds today, 130 years after it was created in 1896.

Today, it remains one of the world’s most globally recognized symbols of luxury, and it is one of the oldest brand signifiers that continues to stand the test of time. This June, the Maison continues its celebration of storied Monogram with the introduction of Monogram Emblème, which completely transforms the classic Monogram as we know it.

Monogram Emblème Brings New Dimension to a Classic

Crafted from jacquard canvas, Monogram Emblème pays homage to the original motif through a highly tactile, eye-catching finish, inspired in part by the original cotton canvases that were once used on Louis Vuitton’s travel trunks.

Today, 172 years since Louis Vuitton first started making trunks, the jacquard is crafted from a blend of organic cotton and linen fibers, creating a distinct and completely unique texture. Its density resembles embroidery, and though it’s aesthetically beautiful, it is also innovatively crafted to be both water-repellent and durable.

The Monogram Emblème Collection Has Arrived

Monogram Emblème debuts on a range of the Maison’s cornerstone designs, including the Alma, Speedy, Neverfull, Noé, and more. Furthering its appeal, the new fabrication is offered on small leather goods, shoes, and other accessories.

In keeping with its nods to the Maison’s storied heritage, the motif is introduced in a range of deeply pigmented hues drawn from Louis Vuitton’s color library—the Vuittonnier. Debuting first are two new shades: Peuplier, inspired by the trunks’ wooden structure, and Rose Ruban, a color that pays homage to the ribbons used on trunks from the archive.

Following the first release, a second set of colors will drop in September—Monogram Bleu, which dates back to the 1930s, and Vert Jura. Discover more details below and shop the range now via Louis Vuitton.
