Kettle Black Utility Fanny Pack

Yes, that is right, this is a fanny pack. Didn’t we vow to never wear fanny packs again? I mean, I am pretty sure that I promised myself and made friends and family members also promise to never wear another fanny pack. But, are there exceptions to this rule?

My gut says no, but my inquisitive side wants to delve a little deeper. By no means do I go out searching for fanny packs, but when I came across this one today at Shopbop, I obviously had to share this with you all.

The Kettle Black Utility Fanny Pack tries to make you think fanny packs are acceptable, but, I am going to give that a big no thanks. After I got over my initial shock that there are “fashionable” fanny packs out there, I couldn’t help but notice how the two pouches remind me a bit of saddles. The last thing I’d want is to have two saddles hanging off of my waist. I can appreciate the pebbled leather and antiqued gold hardware. But these materials should have been combined for a clutch or a small bag instead of a fanny pack. The braided and studded straps are part of the adjustable waist strap (strap is 31″-34″ long). Sure, this is an interesting take on that classic fanny pack you might have sported back in the 80’s, but for me, this bag is still a no-go. Buy through Shopbop for $341.
