Juicy Couture does cutesy in an acceptable way

In the past, I’ve spilled plenty of metaphorical ink bemoaning the lack of editing and low taste level found in some of (ok, many of) Juicy Couture’s previous designs, but lately, I haven’t had much to complain about when it comes to the much-maligned contemporary brand. It appears as though those in charge of the company have seen fit to clean up their act and appeal to a slightly more mature audience, and the brand’s handbags, like the Juicy Couture Mini Perforated Crossbody, are better for it. The design still incorporates young elements, but it does so in a way that isn’t aggressively tacky.

Yes, those are little perforated hearts that you see above. Normally, I would endorse such a thing (my aversion to perforated leather as a whole is rather well-documented), but in this small dosage, it might actually work on the right girl. Tiny heart perforations on a reddish-salmon leather bag are certainly preferable to giant heart appliques on a big, pepto-pink velour tote, and since that’s probably something that Juicy would have made a few seasons ago, I think you can all see my logic here. I like the toned-down (for Juicy) bag! (ipad)

I usually hear Juicy and think “No Way” but this is a great bag! (ipad)

This would look cute on the shoulder of a woman with girly style. Its not for me but it isn’t ugly, either. That’s a win for JC. (ipad)

Juicy’s getting better (ipad)

i don’t like perforations, no matter how high (or low)end the bag. (ipad)

I much prefer the fun Juicy, but this is a nice compromise.

Like the purse: cute and clever, with a couple of new ideas. Pretty! Don’t like the condescending tone of the editorial. Hope to hear more positive input. (ipad)

it’s cute, but a very different style.. not really used to it (ipad)

Hate perforations – totally impractical on any bag – dust settles in the little holes. Well it does ! (ipad)

Chris

This is a cute handbag for the romantic woman in her 20s. I used to hate JC, but their recent collection is showing a big improvement. (iPad)

Oh little hearts – too cute. (ipad)

I think it’s adorable! it can def. add a little pop to a otherwise boring outfit. (ipad)

This is a cute piece, for all ages. I’m normally opposed to JC, but I’d totally wear this. I’d love to see it in a bright yellow or teal. (ipad)
