The fact is that, while this is an adorable bag by my own standards (which tend towards all things that look like they could have been made by some country artisan) there’s a problem. The kitschy, corny respelling of the famous Brazilian beach town irks me, and I’m sure it does the same for fellow spelling enthusiasts.

The truth is that this Ipa-Nima Vivian Shopper should just take the name Ipanema and avoid any confusion. There’s no law against using city or state names as bag brands, is there? Rafe New York, anyone?

In any case, the bag is pretty much a rich mishmash of multiple textures and patterns such as brocade, velvet, satin, and leather. In my opinion, it’s the perfect bag for a day at the beach due to the wide mouth opening. Plus, these boho bags always look awesome with a bit of wear, so I wouldn’t worry about plunking it in the sand. Buy through Nordstrom for $88.

This bag is more about boho-indian mood than boho-brazilian, believe…This is not the mood from a cool beach like Ipanema!
Now, about the name…oh dear, what a confusion. Yes, they should have named Ipanema ´couse Ipa-Nima sounds so terribly wrong! :S

I love the bag, and Ipanema is the name of a beach in Rio.
