There are bags we purchase with the intention of them being some of the most functional pieces in our rotation, and then there are bags that we purchase because we want to add a bit of fun and flair to our collection. While those things can co-exist, oftentimes, they don’t.
I’ve realized recently that function and practicality are not what made me a bag lover in the first place. Rather, my love for bags grew purely from the fun and fashion they bring to my life, and oftentimes I purchase bags because of that. There are bags that I know won’t be my most used but still feel like a good addition to my rotation for the possibility that they’ll be my most loved.
A Fan-Favorite
I was immediately obsessed when the Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie first hit the scene. From its cute and compact size to the bag’s staple Intrecciato leather, not to mention the rainbow of colors offered, I knew I wanted to add one to my collection. The BV Mini Jodie is the perfect example of what I mean when I say some purchases are made purely to fill that little hole in our hearts with joy, not quite a need in our closets.
Fashion Over Function
When I first reviewed the bag a year and a half ago, I gave it 3-stars for usability and function, stating that as fashionable as it is, it’s not the easiest to use. And while that’s still true, the Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie continues to be one of the most-used bags in my rotation, and yes, I’m surprised by that for a few reasons.
For starters, it’s small and compact and doesn’t have a longer strap, so it shocks me that I use it as much as I do during the day. As it’s easy to dress up or down, I find myself pairing it with day looks pretty often, as you’ll see below. And while I love a longer strap for crossbody use, the bag is tiny, and when pushed onto your forearm, your hands can be free for whatever. Being that I got it in yellow, I wrongly believed that it wouldn’t pair well with the majority of what I wear, but I was wrong. The pale yellow color, called Ice Cream, works well with much of my wardrobe, and as the weather warms up, it continues to be a favorite, and I would definitely consider adding a second to my rotation.
Bags aside, you should be a model. You’re pretty, elegant and stylish. 😊
Thank you!! 🙂
We’re lucky to have Kaitlin as part of our small team!
She’s a gem for sure!
Definitely my Longchamp Le Pliage bags. To be honest, I didn’t understand the fuss over such a ubiquitous bag. And then I got one and surprised myself how often I wanted to use them, instead of my other bags.
And now I’m an absolute Longchamp whore.
I use them as a purse, reusable grocery bags, travelling, beach bag, hockey practices, soccer practices….for everything.

Yes it’s a great bag!
Never liked the LV Alma shape, but with time, it started looking more appealing. Scored on in the reseller market and now I love it to bits.
I’ve always loved the Alma myself, but I’ve never pulled the trigger on it. It remains on my wishlist, though!
For me would be Primo Atelier’s La Luna bag. It might look look it doesn’t fit much but it fits all my essentials and some more!
The Tote Bag from Marc Jacobs. It’s very well-made. The leather is nice, and the mini size makes for a perfect everyday bag. I had to make myself stop using it. It took a few years for me because I refused to buy into the hype.
Mine would be the Loewe Hammock. I always think I need flap/zipper for my day-to-day bag and never like an open tote. Well, the Hammock is essentially an open tote transformed to a crossbody and top-handle carry and I was first drawn to its design and aesthetics. Fast forward, it now becomes my everyday bag along with the Puzzle! It’s so carefree, fits a ton, and it’s pretty secure when I wear it crossbody thanks to the side part molded to the body. It carries me from day to night, carrying it with the top handle makes the bag instantly dressy. 10 out of 10!
I recently pick up the hammock bag and I LOVE it!!
The Gucci soho disco bag has been my most used bag in the recent years. I have never used a bag so much as this one.
YSL College bag. Bought it because i love the look. I didnt think I would get much use out of it because of the divider but I have managed to put a small umbrella, a small waterbottle and a thin book. Also found the external pocket handy because it makes it so easy to take my phone out. This ended up becoming my most used bag!
