For most of us (and if that’s not you, I truly envy you), buying a bag on a whim just isn’t realistic.
Money very much is a factor.
I won’t pretend I’ve never given in to impulse shopping—I have, and if I’m being honest, I probably will again—but my spur-of-the-moment purchases have never landed me in serious financial trouble.
Sure, I’ve been swept up in the excitement before, like on a girls’ trip in Paris, when I NEED to just buy the bag, shoes, insert designer item here. Still, my impulse buys have never felt entirely irrational, and they’ve definitely become less frequent as I’ve moved through my thirties.
If Money Were No Object…
These days, with prices climbing higher and higher, most of us tend to plan our purchases more carefully. Budgeting and making thoughtful financial decisions are more essential than ever for most of us. Still, there is something fun about the thought of being able to buy the item that’s stolen your heart on a whim.
I often find myself wondering what it would be like to have the freedom to snag a long-coveted bag on a random Tuesday in March—just because it suddenly restocked or appeared on a resale site. Of course, shopping mindfully is the responsible approach. But I’ll admit, the more calculated a purchase is, the less thrilling it can feel.

It’s been a while since we asked this question, and with the spring 2026 season bringing big designer handbag debuts and a new cohort of It-bags, it’s time we played our favorite game once again! So, just for fun—I have to ask: if money and availability weren’t factors, what bag would you go out and buy right now if you could?

Encapsulating everything I love about Loewe—house heritage, expert craft, and a cool-girl ease of wear, if I could buy one bag right now, it would be the Loewe Amazona 180, in brown suede. It was my favorite bag from the spring 2026 collections, giving me the I gotta have it feel that hasn’t hit me in so long.

If money and availability were truly no object, I would definitely buy Jane Birkin’s original Birkin bag. But one can dream!
Agreed. It sold at auction, in Paris in 2025, for 10.1 million to a collector from Japan. However, one can wish to have this type of money to spend on a Birkin. 😉.
If I had 10 million dollars to burn, I would feed the poor, heal the sick, and house the homeless. Not spend it on a used handbag.
Hermes Picotin in pink or blue. I love that bag. I also have my eye on a YSL Sac du Jour in pink. Finally, a pink Lady Dior in size medium.

I just bought the picotin last month bicolor in bleu agate and gris mouette. My first ever neutral color h bag. Im so glad i chose the 18…very roomy easy to use everyday bag.

Hmmm, I am looking at the Chanel Preppy Cocoa…at least I think that is what it is called. I also like the Gucci Borsetto. I am going to wait and see if the hype fades and make sure my adoration continues but I like both.
