The beginning of August means a few things. In Europe, our favorite luxury brands are out on summer break, signaling that the unofficial end of summer is near. Stateside, many areas of the country are gearing up for back-to-school, and celebrities have begun their annual off-the-grid R&R.
When it comes to fashion, the beginning of August means sale season is in full swing, with further markdowns and new arrivals hitting the sale section as retailers continue to make room for fall arrivals. That brings us to our next point: new fall and winter collections are starting to hit stores and pop up among our favorite e-tailers.
I’ve been trying to streamline my closet by decluttering and organizing. Typically, I do that before I even begin thinking about adding anything (bags, shoes, or otherwise). This helps me take inventory of what I have and start making a list of what I think I need to add.
Is It Too Late to Shop for Summer?
Sometimes, that means selling things I don’t wear and replacing them with things I will wear. Plus, with a potential move on the horizon, it is imperative that I declutter! I am in the process of doing this right now, and by early August, my mindset has completely shifted from buying for summer to building for fall.
At this point in the season, I genuinely don’t need anything. If I did (be it a staple pair of denim shorts or new sandals), I would have purchased them at the beginning of the season. However, I don’t think it’s too late to shop for summer—after all, there are some really great deals to be had, and with warm temps continuing here through September, buying now means getting some use out of your newest additions before summer’s end.
With that said, by the end of this month, I’ll have stopped shopping for summer entirely—sale or otherwise.
What about you? Are you already shopping for fall?
