It’s not uncommon for bag lovers to get stuck on a design. Some people collect Chanel Classic Flaps in numerous sizes, colors and embellishments; others trawl eBay and luxury resale sites for Balenciaga bags in the most coveted shades of 2004 and 2005. (I used to be one of those people!) For me, it seems as though the Proenza Schouler PS1 might be the bag that’s nestled itself permanently under my skin.
I only own one PS1; I bought it at the tail end of 2011 and carried it for a solid two years afterward, more or less every day. I still whip it out occasionally, but my version is the large size, and I’ve since gotten used to smaller, lighter bags. I’m always excited to see seasonal PS1s come out, though, and I’ve considered adding another one to my collection countless times in the past four years. I’m sure I will eventually; the only question is when.
If I were going to do it today, I’d definitely go for the relatively new Tiny size. Despite its name, the ten-inch-wide bag is easily big enough to hold the daily essentials required to fit inside any bag I own, and the strap is long enough to sit comfortably cross-body. This size also still has all the interior and exterior organizational compartments that I love in my big PS1, and it comes in a rainbow of colors. It may not be in my collection right now, but it’s only a matter of time.
