The Mulberry Alexa Bag is Back

Mulberry is the latest brand to hop on the archival revival train

The year was 2010. Apple released the very first version of its iPad, now beloved Hollywood It Girl Jennifer Lawrence burst onto the scene, and Lady Gaga wore a dress made of meat to the VMAs. It was also the year that Mulberry released Alexa Chung‘s namesake bag.

Chung started out modeling in London, and from there her career quickly took off. It was her cool personal style, magnetic appeal and bubbly personality that made her the perfect TV presenter and host. The fashion community eventually took notice of her quirky style and unique take on fashion, and soon she became a beloved industry icon. Unsurprisingly, British heritage brand Mulberry took notice of Chung as well, and in 2010 they released the beloved Alexa Bag, named after the It Girl herself.

Now, ten years after its release, Mulberry is bringing back a House classic, reimagined for modern lifestyles. The epitome of laidback luxury, its silhouette and shape remains the same—relaxed and slouchy with an effortlessly cool vibe. Available in 3 sizes: regular, overized and mini, this iconic revival bag features a braided top handle, double strap closure and a postman’s lock. Each size features an adjustable leather shoulder strap for crossbody wear, one main, unlined compartment as well as an internal slit pocket.

Its heavy grain leather is both beautiful and durable, with a soft touch that will continue to get more and more supple over time. Mulberry re-emphasizes its commitment to sustainability with this new release, sourcing all raw materials and consistently improving its sustainability metrics. The Alexa is crafted in Mulberry’s carbon neutral Somerset, UK factory with leather from environmentally accredited tanneries. An icon then and now, the Mulberry Alexa is the ideal mix of modern with a hint of nostalgia, perfect for the everyday. The Mulberry Alexa re-launched earlier this month, and you can shop now via Farfetch.
