Perhaps improbably, Marni is always one of the handbag collections that I look forward to the most during Milan Fashion Week. The brand doesn’t have a reputation in the accessories world as a purse powerhouse, but I love Marni’s signature blend of girlishness and modernism. The end result is usually some great accessories that will withstand both the passage of the season’s trends and the passage of time, leaving you with a unique bag that people will ask about for years to come.

If you’d like to add that sort of accessory to your closet this season, you’d be well advised to go with one of the three-dimensional woven bags from Marni Spring 2012. Different fabrications and sizes of leather were woven together to create a pattern that looks a lot like tactile plaid, and the end result is kind of mesmerizing. Part of me would like to take one apart to see how it was constructed, but the rest of me would much rather tuck these bags safely away in my closet. All of them. Right now.

I love the woven bags, but the only one I could see myself purchasing is the long clutch. The other sizes are either too structured or small for my taste. I love the style though; It reminds me of a more ladylike version of my DvF Stephanie.

I need to have my bags last for years. These are just too trendy. Maybe if I had a closet (and bucks) to devote to purses…

Not such a huge fan of the woven ones, except the feature pic, but I love those two toned purses!

I love the oxford tipped bags! I want!!!

The woven bags are also fun (colors!) without being similar to Bottega. I was kind of upset when the Marc Jacobs quilted shoulder bag made it’s appearance… I’m sure it was everyone’s cheaper Chanel alternative. So thank goodness this isn’t one of those times!

Amanda — do you know what the price range is for these?

I get Mad Men vibes here, though I don’t watch it. I like the spectator designs.

The circular designs are very cute! Although they may be trendy, they look like works of art.

I love all of these! And I’m all over the lady-chic trend this fall, so it’s nice to see that the trend will apparently be continuing into the next season.
