For most large brands, men's bags are something of and afterthought. If a satchel or tote design works well in the women's line, it gets simplified, enlarged and made more neutral in order to appeal to dudes, and that's about as far as most brands go when it comes to innovative design for their male fanbases. That probably sounds boring, which it is. Thankfully, Louis Vuitton puts more thought and detail into its men's bags than most other premier designer brands combined, and it really showed on the Spring 2017 runway in Paris earlier today.
The bags had a safari feel to them, but thankfully without the overdose of khaki and olive tones that are so often used when that theme is invoked. Instead, the collection's main color story was blue, which made the whole thing feel like a highly stylized storybook adventure. That feeling was encouraged by the gorgeously detailed illustrations of animals that graced several of the bags, plus animal prints on many others. Don't let those bold bags distract you from some of the collection's quieter woven pieces, though, which are just as beautiful and a bit more subtle.
