The First Celeb Spotted Carrying the New Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami

The most-talked about collaboration is seen for the first time in the wild

Zendaya Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami Side Trunk MM

I’ve spent quite a bit at Art Basel Miami the past few days, checking out the art, attending events, and chatting with old and new friends. I have had more conversations about the news of Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami than anything else, proving this collaboration’s significance.

Twenty years after the first collection, which will forever be one of the most defining and industry-changing, Louis Vuitton announced its follow-up collaboration. And bag lovers are going wild! I am part of this group, deciding and re-deciding if there is something specific I need (okay, I want, but it could also be a need!??) and reading everything our forum members have to say.

My excitement was only furthered by seeing Zendaya carrying the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami Side Trunk in Monogram Multicolor white. This specific bag is on my (long) list of wants, and it gives that nostalgic feeling of the print that I seek with a modernized twist through the soft trunk.

Zendaya kept warm in NYC with an all-black ensemble, and this bag stood out. It was the defining part of her entire outfit, which brings me back to why bags are amazing: we can allow them to be the stand-alone piece and closing item of our wardrobe.

LV x TM Side Trunk MM, $5,050

This bag is part of Drop 1 for the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami Collection, which happens on January 1st. Pre-orders are open for VICs, and you should call your sales associate if you hope to get your hands on any of the items as well.

This might be one of the more sought-after items from the collection, as the Side Trunk has received a great reception. The rectangular luggage shape pays homage to the House’s archival luggage, further embodied by the golden reinforced corners.

However, the bag’s body is soft, with supple cowhide leather featuring a Monogram multicolor print. The removable handle and strap allow for versatile carry options, while the inside is large enough to store your daily essentials.

Looks beautiful and I like some of the collection. But knowing that they will gift thousands of those to influencer then tell the customers how rare the bags are and to wait or simply turn us away…

TSDiddy

Part of their marketing strategy but they can charge us stupid price so LV won’t lose any money 😂

Raquelle

Patience. You will get your bag. LV did this the firs time with Murakami.

TSDiddy

Just remember that these are not “ Limited = Doesn’t come any individual numbers! “ It’s available for everyone but LV won’t tell you anything as they want to keep remaining. those collaborations as “ Very “ special. 😆
They should have only made few pieces with the individual numbers in my opinion

Raquelle

Exactly. The Multicolor Speedy 30 was “limited” but you can find thousands of them available on the resale market. Same with other styles of Murakami bags. Limited in this context means limited time.

Kenji

Totally agree with you! I can see lots of items are already available to purchase on the resale online ( eg: Buyma )
My SA told me it’s not super limited and doesn’t come numbers!
I don’t know I just feel like it’s not worth to spend my hard owned money.

Antonia

Oh my!!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TSDiddy

Think more than twice darling. 😆

The Side Trunk has never been on my radar before, but I absolutely love this iteration. Even the studs (which kept me away from buying the original release’ bags) are well-employed.

Raquelle

This collection has put a lot of modern bags on my radar. I never liked the Alma BB, the Capucines, or especially the Coussin. However, seeing them in their Murakami patterns has completely changed my mind.

I don’t care about celebrities at all but I only care about the bag 😍 I have already pre-ordered some items! Can’t wait !

Tara L Thompson

So agree with you.

Josieverona

Not fresh

Momin4inch

Looks a bit plasticky with only white. I might rather get an SLG for my original Speedy Multicolore.

MsFashionista1

This collection makes me want to dig out my old Dooney & Bourke collection. This collection will look dated very quickly.

Slobbybobby

Hate to say it, but for these prices nothing is spiking my interest. Boo

Kenji

Interesting PB control individual’s opinions 🧐 Just acting like FB. Obviously they hate to see personal opinion which against LV. 😂

Cheryl

What is PB doing to “control individual’s opinions”?

Caggy

I’ll just wait for the fakes….

Paris

Zendaya looks like trash but the bags cute
