It’s hard to believe that the Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis has been around for a full decade, but this year, in fact, marks its 10th anniversary. While the bag has lived as part of the Louis Vuitton lineup for an entire decade, it’s also worth noting that it remained largely under the radar for the first few years of its life. Our very own Amanda Mull reported how it remained inconspicuous until around 2015 when suddenly, the bag’s popularity grew exponentially.
The classic Pochette Métis in Monogram canvas became so sought-after that it became extremely difficult to track down at times, spawning wait lists at many boutiques around the globe. Even Megs had a difficult time snagging her beloved bag. While it’s currently readily available online in both Monogram and reverse Monogram canvas, Louis Vuitton has just updated this fan-favorite bag, and it definitely will delight Pochette Metis fans, both new and old.
A Fan-Favorite, Updated
This month, Louis Vuitton releases a brand new Pochette Métis in an elongated East/West shape and a strap that perfectly transforms a beloved silhouette into an of-the-moment shoulder bag. Currently available in classic Monogram canvas with natural cowhide leather trim, the Pochette Métis East West bag features its big sister’s signature S-lock detailing with subtle updates allowing the bag to feel modern and fresh. There’s the addition of a chunky gold chain which is very of the moment, as well as the aforementioned strap that allows for fashionable shoulder wear. Shoulder bags are here to stay, and this update is right on time.
As for the sizing, it’s large enough to store an iPhone 13 and has 3 interior compartments, a zipped pocket inside, and another outside. Overall dimensions are 8.5 x 5.3 x 2.4 inches. Retail is $2,910 via Louis Vuitton, and yes, the bag is available now, but like most new releases, that might change soon. Call me crazy, but I’ve never been a fan of chains on purses, whether as straps or decoration. Especially gold, since eventually the plating will wear away to show the silver colour underneath,
I really like the new proportions on this bag. I think it’s a nice balance and I like that it kept all the great details that make the pochette metis.
I just bought the Métis for my bday gift to me! I had my top 4 faves but needed with Métis. I wish the monogram color was in stock because I would love to own the green brown an pink bag. Store had limited bags and I wish I could of seen this bag! Oh well I love the Métis the depth is way off. It’s much larger than what we heir saying. 3 large sep sections with a zip wall pocket is large enough to hold my iPhone 14. With room for two lipsticks I have Med wallet which is in middle section with xtra cc case. The sections expand but at store brand new not floor model when using they become larger. Ignor the depth it’s way off I think 4-5” depth and that’s new another lady was buying for her young daughter with matching long wallet. That was last bag. I fig I’d be on waitlist but another salesgirl whispered into my girls ear and puff I got my Métis never touched. I do adore it but never got gold chain which is ok because I want liteweight. I recently bought me 3rd Burberry crossbody sm but fits everything and it came with same gold chain so I can put on my Métis. Next is monogram color in green an pink. I did not care for the Pouchette Metis., but I like this one. That price, however, is ridiculous.
Not for me—I’ll stick with my original Pochette Métis, which I LVOE!!
