Louis Vuitton Debuts Nicolas Ghesquiere’s First Ad Campaign

If you need a demonstration of how differently Nicolas Ghesquiere sees Louis Vuitton than predecessor Marc Jacobs, look no further than the Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 ad campaign, Ghesquiere’s first at the brand, which was unveiled by Women’s Wear Daily yesterday. The photos, shot be legends Bruce Weber, Annie Leibovitz and Juergen Teller, are quite the departure from the LV we’ve known for over a decade and a half.

The photos feature models Freja Beha Erichsen, Liya Kebede, and Jean Campbell, as well as actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Vuitton is saying that Ghesquiere gave each photographer artistic license to depict the collection in whatever ways they chose. Indeed, each photographer’s style is immediately recognizable, from Weber’s outdoorsy black-and-whites to Leibovtiz’s soft portraiture. All of the photos lack the heavy glamour that Jacobs often brought to the brand and instead favor a subtler, more retro approach that’s more about mood than product.
