Earlier this week in Paris, Pharrell Williams presented his Spring 2027 collection for Louis Vuitton, and from the moment guests stepped onto the set, it was clear they were in for a ride—on a big wave. The show’s runway emerged from a massive wave, complete with real running water and a sandy floor, a clear ode to the collection’s surf-inspired theme.
This season continues Pharrell’s exploration of the Maison’s travel roots, this time with coastal influences woven throughout. Show notes pay homage to the surfing community and the way it transcends culture and creed, uniquely bringing together people from all walks of life through a shared love of surfing.
Where Dandyism Meets Surf Culture
This sense of community remains at the forefront of Pharrell Williams’ inspiration for Louis Vuitton menswear, as does his personal connection to dandyism. And while, at first glance, dandyism and surf culture couldn’t seem more different, if anyone can seamlessly marry the two, it would be Pharrell.
Ready-to-wear combines technical know-how with sharp tailoring, while workwear elements take on a more relaxed feel through coastal references woven throughout the collection. Wetsuits give way to hand-spun textures in sun-drenched hues, while seascape embellishments add a more literal touch and bold graphics nod to the surfer archetype.
The Bags: Speedys, Shells, and Statement Pieces
As for the bags, this collection was full of them, and collectors will delight in limited-edition must-haves like a shell-shaped bag or an ultra-embellished Speedy. Speaking of the Speedy, Pharrell continues to prove that the iconic silhouette is the perfect blank canvas for reinvention.
Continuing Pharrell’s appreciation for the Maison’s heritage, the runway also featured a series of trunks, including Miroir Monogram styles, one painted with a seaside motif, among others. Embroideries on Monogram pieces add a tactile touch, while muted pastels are applied to Epi leather and other signature materials.
