4th of July is synonymous with summer. It signifies everything summer is about for me, like beach vacations, bikinis, parades, barbecues, baseball games and late nights out. It will be my second summer to celebrate Independence Day in NYC and there is something magical about being here. Between the fireworks and the overall pride and joy felt in the city for this country, I look forward to celebrating the 4th here with friends and family.

Megs, this is a fabulous feature. I especially love the elegant way you decided to commemorate the American flag with slithers of arm candy fashion. Definitely loving the Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs. But wouldn’t compiling a list of fashionable big ticket American designers be a more patriotic statement considering the celebration?

Coach, Reed Krakoff – and a few more, all American designers!
Some Botkier, Judith Leiber, Michael Kors, Rebecca Minkoff, Ralph Lauren, would have been wonderful too….
America is the melting pot of the world; therefore, it doesn’t matter if this list consist of designers from around the world.
And if you like the international big ticket name approach, where’s the Balenciaga? lol
Don’t get me wrong, I love the selections. But when the accompanying description boasts showing “American pride” I personally think it would have been more relevant to compile a list of fabulous American designers. Besides, we see Proenza, Louis, Chanel etc everyday here anyway (celebration or no celebration). 😉
