Copenhagen-based brand GANNI is entering a whole new era of sustainability.
From the beginning, the GANNI mission has been to fill a need in the market for easy-to-wear, effortless pieces that women instinctively reach for day to day. Additionally, the goal has always been to do so at an affordable, contemporary price point without sacrificing quality or design. As the market has shifted, its focus on sustainability has as well, and the brand has set forth on a mission to phase out all virgin leather from its products by the end of 2023.
A Foray Into Recycled Leather
First seen on the brand’s Fall 2023 runway, the brand-new GANNI Bou Bag ushers in a whole new era of affordable luxury. Not only is it crafted from recycled leather, furthering the brand’s mission, but there’s also a second black version made from Ohoskin, which is a bio-based material from byproducts of orange and cactus farming and recycled plastic. And while many brands struggle to find their place regarding sustainability, and vegan leather often raises more sustainability concerns than easing them, certified recycled leather is a whole new ballgame.
The Details
The Bou Bag is crafted from a blend of certified recycled leather, and its hexagonal shape feels fresh and futuristic. Featuring a monochromatic GANNI butterfly logo, the bag’s simple lines are finished with a hand-braided strap and knotted detail, plus a gold GANNI dice logo. The back of the bag features a GANNI embossed logo as well. The bag was not only designed with sustainability in mind but usability as well. Its shape is meant to easily transition into your rotation for daily wear.
The interior compartment is separated into two, and there is a flat card pocket on the back interior of the bag too. An adjustable and removable shoulder strap is included for added function. Its overall dimensions are 5.5″ L x 11.8″ W x 4.9″ D. Available in 6 colorways, you can pre-order yours now via GANNI for $445.

I’m loving this. The concept, the design and the planning behind it with recycled leather.
I own a Ganni bag and love it! This bag is super cute and definitely on my radar screen!
Lovely design and the concept of recycled leather is great!
Literally paying for the brand at this point. I hope they invest more mushroom based and cactus based leathers as plastic peels away sooo quickly , even if it has been recycled.
