Goyard doesn’t do traditional launches. There’s no teaser campaign, no influencer rollout, no flood of product images to dissect from every angle. Instead, the brand drops something new the way it always has. It’s quiet, almost discreet, and lets the people paying attention do the rest. We wait for more via those who have purchased, been in the store, or have information from their SAs.
This time, it’s the Goyard Musette Bag.
A Shape Rooted in Utility, Not Trend
Goyard is offering the Musette PM in an expansive range of 11 colorways, giving the otherwise understated silhouette a broader appeal depending on how bold or classic you want to go.
Shared via the brand’s Instagram page, the Musette PM arrives with a short but telling description: a reinterpretation of the “Île de Ré,” itself an archival design rooted in utility. The name “musette” refers to the functional shoulder bags once carried by postmen, cyclists, and factory workers. Meaning these pieces were designed with movement and practicality in mind long before fashion caught up.
And that origin story matters, because it explains everything about this silhouette.
Why the Familiar Silhouette Works Right Now
At first glance, many will inevitably compare the Musette to the Hermès Evelyne, and yes, there are similarities. The easy crossbody wear, the soft structure, the curved flap; all of these are part of a familiar, proven shape. But this isn’t a case of chasing a trend so much as returning to one. Functional, hands-free bags like this have existed for decades, and Goyard’s version pulls directly from that lineage.
Beyond the shape itself, the details reinforce exactly why this style endures. The Musette PM is designed as a true everyday companion; it’s structured yet lightweight, with enough capacity to carry more than just the essentials.
An adjustable leather strap allows it to be worn crossbody or over the shoulder, adding to its versatility, while a magnetic closure and interior pocket keep everything secure without overcomplicating the design. It’s thoughtful, practical, and easy, which is precisely the point.
More broadly, it taps into where the handbag world is right now. Between the trends and the price hikes, there’s a noticeable shift back toward usability, for bags that don’t require a second thought when you throw them on. The Musette fits squarely into that category. It’s intended to be incredibly functional while still providing the quintessential Goyard design elements. Price in USD is $2570, and in Singapore it’s SGD 3220.
It may not be the loudest release of the season, but then again, it was never meant to be.

I like it better than the Evelyne. Never loved the Evelyne because of that big perforated H.
When I stop to think about it, that big H really is the entire reason I don’t like the Evelyne, and it’s surprising to me how much I think I might otherwise like it.
Goyard’s version of this classic shape is neither better nor worse than Hermès’ overexposed Evelyne. My favorite remains Louis Vuitton’s Musette bag because I appreciate the flap for added security.
What a useless crossbody bag – they could’ve added a zipper and made it smaller – poor design choice
Goyard’s print has never appealed to me, regardless of color, so I won’t be buying -plus unsecured top is also a turn off even if bag came in a beautiful leather.
A very uninspiring bag, and looks like Goyard wants to copy Hermès.
Hermès didn’t invent this type of bags.
There aren’t too many original things out there nowadays. Fashion has been doing this for decades and decades and that’s OK. Different brands put out different colors at different price points. It’s all good!
I just had an epiphany that it looks like Lululemon’s free‑with‑purchase shopping bag, and the pattern is uncanny!
Ok, I like this. I don’t carry my Evelyne because it’s too heavy after I put in iPad, wallet, phone, etc. but I imagine this might be much lighter. No price out yet?
Suggested under $2700. It’s not a very secure bag, but if you’re going somewhere where that’s not an issue, I’m in! This rivals Hermes new Evelyne size 23 at 22cm! I’m interested!
I got intel that the price is $2,570!
What is the price?
Just added the price – per tPF member and her SA, it is $2,570.
From being inspired by the Ile de Ré bag to creating this…. I don’t get it.
Size? Exactly like Hermes
I hope they make a smaller or mini version.
ow this is beautiful , i really like this
