Matthew Williams’ Givenchy is fresh, boundary-breaking, and unapologetically unique. Unafraid to break norms and mix aesthetics, with each season, Willams redefines House codes, offering contemporary spins on some of the brand’s most championed staples. For Resort 2024, Williams continues with his clear vision, but his background and influence in streetwear remain. Resort 2024 draws upon the past, taking inspiration from the archives and bringing new, modern elegance to Hubert de Givenchy’s signatures.
A Mixing of Aesthetics
Williams’ mixing of aesthetics is clear in this collection. There are beautiful evening wear pieces juxtaposed with denim looks and oversized outerwear. As for the bags, they feel quite contemporary as well, again offering a nice contrast to the colorful draped dresses and muted gowns.
The latest It-bag for the House is refreshed this season, and fans will notice a new size and shape. Joining the Voyou lineup, a smaller shoulder bag with a single chain strap and exaggerated buckles appears alongside intricately detailed Antigonas, which feature grommets and leather lacing. More dressed-up bags showcase crystal detailing and intricate chain straps. For a dressed-down bag that is a clear reference to William’s background in streetwear, the classic Antigona is given a very literal denim makeover.

I want the denim Antigona. Throw in the jeans that the model is wearing as well.
Those JEANS!! Love!
I’m kind of meh about all of this. The denim Antigona however, is giving me really odd vibes. The unbuttoned, unzipped jeans with the lock hanging inside immediately struck me as “c[itoris”. I know the placement isn’t anatomically correct but… come on.
I just don’t understand the iteration of the Antigona with that huge heavy lock on the front or whatever. It really doesn’t add anything.
Agree; it’s quite creepy.
