This morning we kicked off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York by attending the BCBG Max Azria Fall 2011 show. Rather than overwhelming heavy layers, the collection felt light and airy fitting perfectly into fall’s aesthetic.

The dresses were both easy and feminine. The collection stuck to layers, showing almost every look with tissue thin white turtlenecks underneath. From the dresses we saw long flowy bottoms with plunging back and necklines. When color was added it was in clolorblocking and abstract geometric prints.

The collection flew down the runway effortlessly. There was almost a feel of spring but the deeply hued colors and layers reminded us that this line is meant for fall. When it came to the handbags we saw chic fold-over clutches and compact structured messenger bags. Both of these designs work well with the layered look, ending with an almost boho vibe. Overall the BCBG Max Azria Fall 2011 collection is both simple and wearable, which is what most of us look for in a line.

Loving all of it… so gorgeous, feminine and light for fall!

Hate to say it but I’ve never been a fan of BCBG bags. They feel so cheap.

Exciting! Love the turtleneck layering, fold-over clutches, fluid fabrics, subtle rich colors and the easy-breezy vibe. Looking forward to more pictures and sharp reviews.

Love these! Big BCBG clothes and footwear fan. But yeah, their bags are not quite there yet.

This wasn’t quite what I was expecting from BCBG, but that’s good! Interesting pieces they showed here.
