It might only be Tuesday, which if you ask me is objectively the worst day of the week, but on this particular Tuesday we’ve got a treat for you. That’s right, Chanel’s brand new lookbook just hit the internet, and we’re here with the best of the best.
If you’re a Chanel shopper, you’ll be comforted by the fact that this collection is quintessentially Chanel, but at the same time, it’s incredibly streamlined. This season, Virginie Viard has focused on the classics, choosing to strip the collection down to include the brand’s most wearable pieces with a twist. Gone are most of the outlandish elements from Chanel that we’ve come to expect. Like the often over-the-top, but wearable art-like designs from the Lagerfeld days.
This collection doesn’t have a whole lot of tricks up its sleeve, except for some novelty fabrics like tweed, shearling and sequins sprinkled throughout. It’s mostly full of extremely wearable designs. Chain detailing and cool embellishments liven up Chanel classics like the Flap, and the brand’s newest standout, the Chanel 19 Bag, is seen in solid autumnal colors plus tweed novelty fabrics. I am drawn to the white bags! It’s insanity because they are impractical, but so, so pretty!
The white shearling bag is surprisingly pretty. I don’t think fur usually looks good in bag form and I don’t know where you’d wear it (luxury ski resort? dinner with Putin?) but it very cute. Gives me femme fatale vibes.
I just got the small flap bag in 2 tone yesterday– similar to #9 motif. Absolutely love it! nice twist on the original flap and the rich brown leather accents well. Like walking into an old British library with a glass of scotch. Also, the shoulder strap is more comfortable than the normal chain.
I love number 14 but not with gold hardware.
The only one I like is the bucket bag. The shearling will get dirty is about five minutes, the rest are just meh. All 4 of my Chanel bags are vintage and I still like them better than the recent offerings.
