While we were knee-deep in covering fashion month and all of the newness that’s to come later this year, Chanel not-so-quietly dropped its new collection. Spring 2023 is in stores now, and bag lovers will delight in its allure. Glamorous and romantic, mini bags continue to reign supreme, and Virginie Viard’s Chanel is more commercialized and wearable than that of her predecessor, and the bags continue to convey that.
Feminine and flirty, spring 2023 is all about the details with eye-catching embellishments like pearls, sequins, tiny heart detailing, and crystals. As for Chanel’s House staples, the Classic Flap is given a gorgeous pearly metallic finish, which is sure to delight Chanel fans, both new and old. Newer shapes appear in seasonal materials and colors, like shoppers and mini bags with top handles. Chanel Spring 2023 Bags
These are new bags? Seriously, Chanel needs a new designer for their handbag division.
Other than adding fancy materials to the old styles, Chanel has no new designs since Lagerfeld. They keep on jagging up the price just because they are Chanel? So disappointed….
These bags are really uninspired and repetitive in their thematics. Viard is incompetent and she’s just riding Lagerfeld’s coat tails

Most of them look so dated. And there’s too much shiny gold for me.
I love chanel but this is the most boring collection ever.
Only the small clutch design looks new. All the rest are as-expected or very retro-’80s (the mini shopping bag). I like tweeds, but not at $5k+ for fabric. And the classic flap at $10.2k, nearly Hermes price, is laughable. Nope, Chanel, nothing to purchase from you here; maybe on resale market later when the ladies who lunch and the IGers dump their troves.
That 10k bag is lovely and traditional Chanel but on the site in the title of the bag “ gold tone metal” it might be me but gold tone hardware sounds a bit more elegant and maybe put lux sounding words to describe this bag instead of assuming IYKYK- Hermes does describe their bags even if they may not sell on the site. Again, I’m positive I’m not their target customer😊
I remember purchasing a full size bag in the late 90’s early 2000 for under $1000; these are MINI bags for $5000. Trendy and not really useful. Definitely catering to a certain group where money (or the Parents’) is no object. The price point for a full size flap is laughable; talking a mortgage payment for a few months; a VERY nice vacation somewhere; etc. Plus, the quality is crap. Unless it’s vintage, CHANEL is not something I am now interested in purchasing.

The 22 looks much better and less shoe-bag-y in the small format with interesting color + hardware covering some of it.

Yeah pretty uninspired. I like the look of the pearl cage bag but I’m sure it would break into pieces immediately, given their quality issues these days.
